Visually striking, bloody, strange and brutal, this fantasy-drama based on a novel by Neil Gaiman makes a potent debut, aided considerably by its charismatic lead.

American Gods has been pretty mind-blowing so far. What's looming is not merely a clash of titans, or even a clash of individual gods - it's a clash of pantheons.

American Gods is a psychedelic spree that looks like it was designed to beat down any attempt to describe it coherently.

In American Gods, Starz's gorgeous, ambitious adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 2001 fantasy novel, humans, be they slaves or migrants, bring their individual gods with them when they land in America.

The Starz adaptation of Neil Gaiman's bestselling fantasy novel is so outrageous in its ambitions and so spectacular to look at, you may get caught up in the illusion and wonder only later, "What the heck was that about?"

This is a series with a lot to show and more to tell, wrapped up in a story that seems to know no bounds; enjoyment will vary from viewer to viewer, and it probably wouldn't hurt to already be a fan of the source material.
