Beyond the straightforward procedural elements of the story, which take us from the early days of the couple’s relationship to the manhunt for Laundrie, there are thought-provoking elements here. Go to Full Review

Mostly in chronological fashion, with the filmmakers employing the familiar and reliable techniques of packaging home video footage, snippets of news coverage, and interviews with Petito’s family members and friends as well as law enforcement officials. Go to Full Review

The franchisification what could’ve been a stand-alone series reeks of exploitation. Go to Full Review

While American Murder: Gabby Petito probably won’t tell you much more about the Petito case than what the news media did, some of the context it provides certainly gives the story more depth than the splashy tabloid headlines did. Go to Full Review

DESTINY A @DIAMONDAKAFYA Feb 14 A VERY GOOD TV SERIES See more Stewart F @stewartflaherty Oct 10 Sad tale of a vulnerable soul lured by a Satanic being disguized as love. Serves all the purposes of entertainment from a True Crime perspective, impossible ot watch without feeling sorry for Gabby. See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch 05/14/2025 "American Murder: Gabby Petito" is a gripping documentary released in 2025 that delves into the tragic murder of a young woman at the hands of her boyfriend. After committing the crime, he attempted to return home and conceal his actions, but ultimately, his guilt became overwhelming. To this day, the involvement of her parents remains a mystery. The documentary is skillfully crafted, consisting of three episodes that provide a comprehensive account of the events that transpired. Viewers are presented with police body cam footage and real-time recordings, which add a layer of authenticity to the narrative. Throughout the series, numerous interviews highlight individuals who intersected with Gabby and her boyfriend during their cross-country travels. I believe this documentary is an important watch, as it sheds light on domestic violence and offers insight into how individuals can begin to escape such situations. It serves as a source of inspiration for those seeking to break free from toxic relationships. My heart goes out to Gabby, who was tragically murdered 2,000 miles from home. The fact that her killer returned and pretended nothing had happened, all while professing love, is simply horrifying. See more Leaburn O @RT35452347 03/16/2025 Like many Netflix shows, this was an example of the art of extrapolation. How to turn a half hour mediocre story into a three part series. SPOILER ALERT ‼️ A girl is murdered by her abusive boyfriend, who subsequently commits suicide to evade justice. You might think there must be more to this story as it’s a three part documentary series. But no honestly there’s nothing at all else to it. It was chosen as the girl was a vlogger so there is seemingly a lot of material to work with. Instead we’re forced to watch regurgitated video footage of the same clips endlessly. At one point, a couple are given us five minutes to regale to us how they drove past the victim’s empty car and caught it on video for two seconds. There was literally no reason to hear from this couple, they literally added nothing to the tale. This is a tragic story of abuse and murder but there is no documentary in this story or its footage. No twists, nothing suspicious, nothing to keep you guessing, just talking heads often repeating themselves over and over. Rubbish TV. Watched on Netflix. See more David F @dfulmer 03/16/2025 Another great true crime documentary from Netflix. This one is about the murder of a young aspiring Youtuber, so there is a lot of social media stuff available to the filmmakers to give you a sense of the people involved in the story. See more matthias s @Thescreenasvor 03/11/2025 **★★★★☆** As a true crime fan, I knew some of the Gabby Petito story, but not much — and wow, this documentary filled in every gap. It’s packed with footage and dives deep into every minor detail, making it both gripping and absolutely heartbreaking. Some of the police bodycam footage left me feeling sick and disgusted — a prime reminder of why I don’t trust cops. The way this unfolds is haunting, and it made me feel every emotion possible. Informative, emotional, and disturbing in all the right ways. A tough watch, but so well done. See more Read all reviews
