A limited series about the mysterious blonde bombshell who takes over Los Angeles billboards in the mid-1980s, planting the seed for famous-for-being-famous influencer culture. Loosely inspired by the 2017 Hollywood Reporter article that revealed Angelyne's secret past as a Polish-born daughter of Holocaust survivors, the story focuses on fame and the elusive nature of truth itself. The all-star cast includes Emmy Rossum as the titular character, Alex Karpovsky, Lukas Gage, Martin Freeman, Hamish Linklater, David Krumholtz and Michael Angarano.

Critics Consensus

Emmy Rossum brings remarkable depth to a cipher in Angelyne, a glitzy look at fame for fame's sake where the inscrutability is the point.

This is a vibrant series that’s more interested in the stories that people tell themselves than it is in cold hard facts. And in its own way, that’s the most truthful way to look at someone’s life. Go to Full Review

The approach is mockumentary style, however it isn't mocking its subject -- respect is shown and her positive light is celebrated. Go to Full Review

See more Gareth v @geewah 08/28/2024 Great performances from Rossum & Freeman is about the only thing this show has going for it. Has some moments, but there really isn't anything meaty enough here to sustain a tv series to keep you captivated. You'll forget about this show pretty quickly. See more Ian F @RT22231372 11/23/2023 "Angelyne" offers a flashy and intriguing glimpse into the life of the real-life Los Angeles icon known for her billboard presence.
