Despite an absolutely breathtaking backdrop and a stellar lead performance, “Anna Pigeon” feels like a dry, monotonous rehashing of Netflix’s “Virgin River.” Go to Full Review

I’m certain that Anna Pigeon is a bad series -- it’s packed with leaden writing, flimsy plotting and boasts several dismal performances -- but it’s primarily a forgettable series that’s designed to be forgettable, and therefore succeeds entirely. Go to Full Review

While the crime drama isn’t must-see watercooler television, the show bops along with a pleasing rhythm, modest plot puzzles and a jaunty heroine brought to life by the charismatic Spiridakos. Go to Full Review

There's always a chance Anna Pigeon turns into a USA-network warhorse along the lines of The Closer, but it would take a lot of nurturing to get it there. Go to Full Review

“I’m not just a park ranger, I’m a law enforcement ranger,” Anna says while chastising a litterbug. “So in this park, I’m a cop.” Yeah, that’s some ham- fisted exposition, which is par for the course with a procedural drama of this type. Go to Full Review

"Anna Pigeon" isn't an awful show; it's just a thoroughly mediocre one. Go to Full Review

Sophie D @Duffy870 Sep 6, 2026 Better than I expected since I noped out on Morwyn Brebner's last series (The Coroner). The national parks setting, the characters and the cast are all gelling really well. And I'm incredibly happy to see Paulina Alexis and Tricia Helfer in the support cast. See more Lulu J @CallMeLulu Sep 5, 2026 OK show. Writing/direction, mediocre. Beautiful scenery. Actor playing the ranger mentored by Anna Pigeon is a standout. Problem is the show is based on a cliched device used the past 10 years. Yes, technically about a woman protagonist--but written 100% according to particular archetypal male character. Haunted by a traumatic incident from his past (divorce, or murder, fatal illness, mysterious death of his wife). He's now callous, hard-drinking, emotionally shut down, joyless, abrasive, borderline alcoholic, defies authority, love/hate relationship with boss since only HE, the lone-wolf renegade, follows deep moral principles--vs his ethically compromised, politically hamstrung boss. He always ends up the Hero, but his victories are Pyrrhic, leaving him physically battered and morally exhausted. He has empty emotionally void sexual encounters...til a near-saintlike patient woman makes him human again. Anna is precisely that cliche male character--except the genders are switched. See more the T @RT91325953 Sep 2, 2026 Interesting concept and I've been to Glacier National Park, a real treasure. The leaden show moves at the pace of a 1960's TV series. The one redeeming quality is its eponymous star, Tracy Spiridakos, who is a goddess. I can't take my eyes off of her. Such a beautiful face. But the rest of it: kind of a stinkeroo. See more eabate3 T @RT96217111 Aug 29, 2026 Why can't networks take a page from streaming series and get some good writing, good acting, good plots. This series could have been so much better. The acting is so bad it's hard to watch See more Lynn W @Blwyxx Aug 25, 2026 Anyone who has read the Nevada Barr series—upon which this is based—is going to be sorely disappointed. Silly mistakes (what park ranger would go on a search without a raincoat? But, hey! She had a sleeping bag!) The show was just too sloppy. We didn’t even finish watching the first episode. See more stuart B @RT69518323 Aug 24, 2026 The wife saw the trailer and said "We have to see this" and then we did, and ugh. Bad writing. Ridiculous situations. At the end of the first episode, the bad guy says "I don't want to kill you" then immediately tells her his whole evil plan like a Bond villain. So after he told her, was he hoping she'd forget everything he just said? It's her fifth job in three years? Who are the idiots who keep giving her jobs? She falls off a cliff with a concussion but seems to get over it pretty quick. Hoping for better from Lea Thompson as well. After the second episode, which wasn't any better, we gave up. There are too many other shows out there worth the time, moreso that this turkey. See more Read all reviews
