Critics Consensus

Archer manages to remain fresh while staying true to its dirty, grimy, hysterically funny characters.

[⭐️79%] Archer's fifth season takes the series into uncharted territory with a continuous story throughout the entire season, making for a very whacky ride. So much crazy stuff happens that makes this entry a fun and memorable time, sometimes hooting itself in the foot with how messy moments can get. Along with the fun, the characters show sides the viewers have never seen as well as displaying better chemistry, making season 5 a blast!

The high point of the series so far, Archer Vice explores a new, changing terrain with characters who simply refuse to change with it. Sure Cheryl is an "outlaw" country music star and Pam would rip you in half with her bare hands for an eight ball, but let's be honest: would you expect anything different from either of them given the shenanigans that comprise Season 5? It's a zany, but also natural progression for the team in their post-espionage chapter.

    Definitely my favorite season

This season was god awful. It was almost impossible to get through, and I found myself enraged by Pam. She's a truly terrible character who needs to be killed off. Hated this season, would literally never watch again.

    Excellent, pure archer

The 5th season starts off with an extremely promising first episode that changes up the game for our beloved characters and ends with an insanely hilarious, gut-busting and exciting montage, but even after the great thrill when we realize that much of what was shown in the montage will, indeed, happen, it simply isn't as funny when played out over multiple episodes and arcs. That isn't to say it wasn't entertaining, just not as much as the previous seasons. I will say, however, that the show did benefit from changing up its formula, as if it had continued its seemingly perfect structure of the first four seasons things would definitely have gone a little stale. This was a necessary landmark for the show to segue into the better seasons of 6 and especially 7, as well as the first time the creators started experimenting with different styles and formats.

One of the best animated series ever! Just like the old gypsy lady told me.

Excellent comedy. The entire cast is a talented set of voices and the artwork is entertaining. The relationships are constantly surprising and entertaining. A must watch for the mature adult who doesn't want to be too mature. This is the first introduction of a character that I don't care for, but the actor is one I do like. It almost feels like an attempt to redo Odin with another approach. Still excellent.

One Of The only TV series That can actually change the whole plot in a season and Be as goOd as ever
  • Jan 17, 2018
Ambitiously turning Season 5 into an entirely new concept appropriately titled 'Archer: Vice', Archer continues to prove itself and one of the smartest and ambitious comedies on TV.
