Loved this series. Binged watched it in two nights. Wish we could get another season.

I haven't finished the season yet (I have a few more episodes to go), but it's an intriguing ride so far. The series has made me pay attention to every little detail in an effort to figure out what's going on. If you like a mystery along with a little horror, I recommend this series. It's different than much of the stuff out there.

I am so far completely blown away. This series reminds me of The Omen. It looks like it was shot a while ago. I think that is an intentional part of the show. It references The Shining early on (You're not going Jack Torrance on me, are you?). And, like the Shining, building are some of the more prominent characters. I am trying not to bing all episodes in one sitting. But it is hard. It also reminds me of The Sentinel.

In a time when "slow burner" has become synonymous with prolonged (at least with regard to limited series), Archive 81 is engaging from start to finish. Characters worth emotionally investing in drive the story forward. The unique structure and method of storytelling worked very well. While many directors and writers fail to make cults scary, "Archive 81" provides a terrifying group of individually unnerving people who utilize haunting imagery and sound to better frighten the main characters and the viewer. The ending was truly unexpected, fitting for a show that was never predictable or formulaic.

Truly astonishing! This is the kind of show that can make you unable to leave the couch because of how good they are! However, in some scenes CGI looks bad, but the entire story makes you forget about it. - Your friend, Requiem

High hopes, shattered. This is JUST interesting enough to keep you watching, but you will find yourself fast forwarding through minutes of absolutely nothing of interest hoping to reach the meat--which never really arrives. The script is poorly written, as is the acting (other than Jess, the young black girl, who is wonderful). The dialogue is primarily nonsense and not how real people would talk to one another. The characters are shallow and never developed. The editing is abrupt and often doesn't make sense, and the plot, well, you have seen all this before. No wonder Netflix is having problems.

Great show, I was in the edge of my couch with all the mystery. So sad they canceled.

The premise is particularly original, there is a mix between two timelines through someone who records and the others that watch the recordings 25 years later, and somehow the separation between the timelines gets confused. Add on top of that a demonic coven and creepy old VHS filters and we have a pretty good start for a scary series. Unfortunately, the story got weirdly conventional with the same kind of characters you saw and saw again in horror movies, people that made stupid decisions despite the proof that their lives are in danger, and of course, the interruptions every time a character is close to proving that he is right about supernatural things. It's a little frustrating to have such bland characters for a show that could have been very rich and original. The story itself drags toward the middle, they do speed up the pace sometimes with big revelations/events but then they are not able to follow up. Despite every danger around the characters, they have no sense of urgency, yes they freaked out but they just continue like being the target of a demon/cult makes them angry and not worried for their life. This is particularly annoying when the actor playing the main male character doesn't have much charisma to the point that he can't make you care about his side of the story. I was surprised to learn that it was not a stand-alone, they end on a cliffhanger (promising a second season) despite having to stretch the story for the whole first season.
