If these characters hurt, we feel it, even in moments when the show flirts with melodrama.

It's typical Army Wives. So if you've been a fan of the show for the past six seasons, then you'll be happy to see the team back together.

When a series that's done everything it could to bond with its audience over the years leaves that audience hanging, it can't help but feel like a slap in the face to the people who've come to love those characters.

Here is where Army Wives reeled me back in. Its ability to show soldiers deploying, saying goodbye to their families and realistically portraying the pressures and challenges those left behind has always been incredibly keen.

Army Wives is melodramatic, all right, but it's also consistently, stupefyingly boring, with the actors underplaying their roles in a way that doesn't make them any more credible.
