No consensus yet.
The Rube Goldbergian plot of Season 4 gains the sleek chassis it needs to glide smoothly over the finish line.
Some of these puzzle piece explanations are more "Oh, okay" than especially funny... Still, "It Gets Better" had a lot of strong material in-between those lulls.
As we have been saying, the season is ending on a far stronger note than it started, which is basically due to how this particular season has been structured.
If seen as a stand-alone short film, "It Gets Better" is one of the best in the show's history. But when it loops back into the complex narrative of the season, it actually gets less interesting.
I'm not really enjoying George Michael in this series... This held up a lot better than I feared.
"It Gets Better," like last week's "Señoritis," covers a lot of ground, and yet also like "Señoritis," it's a far more snappily paced and consistently funny episode than the fitful catch-ups from earlier in season four.
The episode basically serves as a cracked parody of The Social Network, complete with misplaced sexual anxiety, betrayal, and people wearing hoodies to legal proceedings.
