When man-eating Titans first appeared 100 years ago, humans found safety behind massive walls that stopped the giants in their tracks. But the safety they have had for so long is threatened when a colossal Titan smashes through the barriers, causing a flood of the giants into what had been the humans' safe zone. During the carnage that follows, soldier Eren Jaeger sees one of the creatures devour his mother, which leads him to vow that he will kill every Titan. He enlists some friends who survived to help him, and that group is humanity's last hope for avoiding extinction at the hands of the monsters.

Shishido's direction did not manage to communicate so eloquently the increasingly complex narrative, although the fault lies at least as much on the original material. The one thing he does pretty well, however, is bring all the storylines together Go to Full Review

Artur M @artvrdinho Feb 28 best piece of fiction See more Ogheneruona O Feb 24 'SHIT ANIME' The characters are easily the weakest part. The protagonist is bland and painfully generic, with no defining traits beyond a vague "hidden power" and endless internal monologues. Side characters exist purely to orbit around him, offering shallow backstories that are introduced and forgotten within the span of an episode. Emotional moments feel forced because the show never takes the time to properly develop relationships. See more Na F I @nafinega Feb 23 ABSOLUTE CINEMA majority audience prefer season 3 as the peak of AOT but in reality the final season has more depts and more philosophy . If you can understand the depts of this final season than it will be in your favorite pick among all other seasons See more theguywithawheel23 Jan 28 Excels from all the heavy lifting the first 3 seasons provided and dives head first into one of the greatest world building spectacles and intricate character development narratives anime has to offer. It involves a plot twist too many and the latter half slogs when it should be sprinting. But the surprises and more importantly, the structure always revolves around character. And as far as character goes, there is little to prepare you for Eren-Fucking-Yeager. See more Lloyd P. @lordowar Jan 7 Only my 2nd anime. 1st that I watched by myself after my kids encouraged me to watch it. I think it has a better storyline than most TV shows and movies. Even if you’re not an anime fan, I would say the storyline and the questions it raises, is about as good as it gets for cinema. See more James B @Voluntold Jan 4 Being the weakest does not mean bad. This is the best possible way to end a story like AOT, and while it made me cry and feel hollow for the whole week after seeing the finale, it was a satisfying ending to the story we followed for a decade. It's no secret that the writer for story struggled with how to end this, but I feel it was the best possible conclusion we could have gotten in a brutal, tragic, and compelling series like AOT. The interesting part of this particular season, is that if you introduced someone to AOT, they could learn of the world and characters just from this season, but you would be robbing them of some serious lore, and their opinions on some of the characters would be completely flipped from people who watched from the beginning, which I think is a cool way of showing that there are no "good guys" in this show, just people trying to survive.
