A superstar during his football playing days, Spencer Strasmore tries to find the same success as a financial manager for current players in sun-splashed Miami. Heeding his boss Joe's instruction to "monetize his friendships," Spencer builds a client base of young phenoms and veteran stars alike, but his role in their lives far exceeds money management as he struggles to help them navigate the many traps that come with life as big-time "ballers." The series is created by Stephen Levinson ("Entourage," "Boardwalk Empire") and stars Dwayne Johnson as Spencer.

The overall theme of the series, the life as a current/ former football player, is still there, though the stakes seem to be higher this time around. Go to Full Review

This is not the stuff of great comedy. It's barely the stuff of interesting TV. Go to Full Review

Ballers is never going to be confused for one of HBO's premier comedies like Veep or Silicon Valley-and that's OK. Ballers is exactly what it presents itself to be. Go to Full Review
Daniel Johnson Screen Rant 07/25/2017
Ballers continues to prove that Johnson's star power is enough to keep a series relevant. Sure, the show may not be groundbreaking in any way, but Johnson's presence makes it worth the modest time investment each week. Go to Full Review

Ballers remains one of the breeziest, easiest-to-watch shows on cable, and that's a good and bad thing. Go to Full Review

Regal R 08/18/2023 30/100 - wanted to like it, couldnt. only got worse as the seasons go on. dwayne the rock johnson tried to break free from his previous disney persona with this character but it doesnt work. iykyk See more 08/09/2021 excellent series, with very good plot See more 10/15/2018 While season two of Ballers was a step up, season three is a slight step down. The majority of the season is focused on Spencer's desire to get the Raiders to move to Las Vegas, and honestly the storyline is pretty boring, and the rest of the storylines aren't as entertaining as the previous two seasons, either. The financials of this season are also a mystery for the most part and a lot of what ASM is involved with doesn't seem to make financial sense. There is still entertainment to be had, but it's not nearly as attention-grabbing as before. See more 09/28/2018 Lost me in session 3. Nuff said. See more 03/06/2018 Even though it’s a show ballers shows how important agents are. See more 10/24/2017 Gives you a taste of what could be in Vegas, but keeps it so far. See more Read all reviews
