July 10, 2018
Without Adam West's Batman, you might have never heard of the character at all.
July 3, 2018
However, taken on its own terms, Batman is a very fun and entertaining show.
July 2, 2018
On its own, Batman still offers an otherworldly perspective on a popular character now synonymous with fear and intimidation.

This hysterical and culturally significant series could be a terrifically fun binge to indulge in over the course of a weekend.
June 26, 2018
The show has unfairly endured a legacy of shame.
June 26, 2018
Batman itself has the swingiest, jazziest soundtrack this side of Peter Gunn.

Chemically pure, as direct a translation as is humanly possible.

If you've never seen the original by Bill Dozier -- who took Bob Kane's greatest-comic-hero-ever and turned him into a figure of joy and mirth, with a wonderful cast in support -- then you have not lived a full or productive life.

It is now considered as fun and smart as it was originally meant to be... This show has aged wonderfully.
June 26, 2018
The show that launched a thousand double entendres.
June 26, 2018
Remains a hugely entertaining, tongue-in-cheek romp.
June 26, 2018
Dozier's unimaginative stories and formulaic repetition ground Batman into the dirt almost immediately.
June 26, 2018
Batman series was progressive in its own way. The show included race-blind casting (Eartha Kitt as Catwoman) and introduced a number of original female roles to the Batman canon.

Young kids enjoyed it on one level. Adults appreciated the satire, surrealism and sublime silliness laced into every episode.
June 25, 2018
Batman is kicks, even though the intellectuals will call it "in" and "camp" (a device which allows them to lower themselves to enjoy it) and the kids will love it like when you and I were young, Annie.
June 25, 2018
Make no mistake: this 1960s cult classic is one of the most enjoyable TV shows of all time.
June 25, 2018
West's ability to say absolutely anything with a straight face leads to some of the funniest jokes on the show, and remains a huge part of its appeal.
June 25, 2018
The only villain in the rogues' gallery to even hint at something darker is Frank Gorshin's Riddler... This is his finest hour, with him entering the episode with a remarkably competent Charlie Chaplin impression.

Batman jabs at and satirizes its heroes' obliviousness, but it also celebrates them.
