Being Human: Series 1 Photos

Tv Season Info

This supernatural comedy/drama revolves around the concept of two young men sharing an apartment. While this seems like a tried and tested formula for television, the twist is that Mitchell is a vampire and George is a werewolf. Complicating matters further is the small issue of the pair's newfound home being haunted by the ghost of Annie; a young lady with unfinished business of her own.

Even from the start, Being Human comes across as one of the most genuinely horrific monster shows ever made, with a good mix of creepy effects and subtle suggestiveness.

Being Human manages to avoid both the slipperiness of soap opera and the overwrought self-importance of Goth, finding instead a happy normalcy that makes its supernatural elements both more believable and more shocking.

The characters in this unusual and entertaining series have a very special friendship, based on the shared knowledge that none will ever be fully human.

It's [Aidan] Turner who really shines in this first episode with a screen presence any show would kill for. Little wonder he's been handed the most interesting role.

All in all, we had a good time with the US Being Human cast, and we'll be back next week.

Created by Doctor Who veteran Toby Whithouse, it's a character piece in a supernatural setting with comic flourishes and ferocious edges...

Being Human is so much more appealing than the over-ripe, self-consciously sexy (and therefore, not sexy) True Blood and the sub-Buffy hormone-charged Twilight.
