The missing element here is the camp of a juicy soap. If we can’t laugh, then we should gasp. Remaking an iconic series is a silly endeavor—why not lean all the way into that?

The main Banks making the series work is Jabari, the newcomer playing the fictional Will Smith. He has a lively swagger that emerges more readily as the series goes on.

Bel-air is ok. Good acting but it's not what I expected. I was hoping the characters would be the same like in the fresh prince.

I was a huge fan of the old series. Big fan of the new one and I love the more modern spin, the cast, the present issues and cliffhangers. Waiting for the next season.

Definitely not the Fresh Prince, but the real Life feel gives it a bit different perspective. A little over the top at times but it lands OK. Not the best thing out there, but it is worth a watch.
