Best Friends Forever: Season 1 (2012)

Critic Consensus: Its appealing leads have comedic chemistry, but Best Friends Forever unfortunately succumbs to an overly familiar premise and so-so writing.

This breezy sitcom centers on the relationship between Jessica Black (Jessica St. Clair) and her best friend, Lennon White (Lennon Parham). When Jessica is served with divorce papers, Lennon persuades her to move back home to Brooklyn and into the apartment they used to share. Insulting, derivative and neither credible nor fanciful.

If you're seeking what is probably the truest definition of dramedy, featuring a number of real emotional moments about people who need each other, Best Friends Forever is a good place to start.

This plot could easily be disastrous or lame and fall prey to the standard sexist tropes we see in similar comedies, but BFF actually has pretty great writing and no vendetta against women.

Not too many sitcoms contrast how the characters see themselves and how we see the characters. This one does.

Apr 4, 2012 | Full Review…

The show's trying to cram in so much story and dialogue and character stuff that it never just relaxes and takes a deep breath.
