The first three episodes of the fourth season, which take place at the camp, are some of the funniest TV I've watched in a while.

Fewer fart jokes and dystopian explosions, more anxiety mosquitos and a fairer study of the entire group we've grown to love over these four seasons: this is the recipe to keep Big Mouth one of the best shows on TV.

Suffice it to say that Big Mouth season 4 hit all the right notes for me. I'm excited to see how this show continues to develop.

Despite the heavy subtext, "Mouth" can also be a whole lot of goofy fun.

Netflix must be proud of such a team of voices, all taking in different personalities and alter egos; Season 4 continues to be a whole lot of fun and easily binge-able.

Big Mouth's biggest strength is blending fast dirty jokes with deeper issues, which offers compassion without condescension.

Big Mouth Season 4 is full of new, relevant content that addresses 2020 in the best of ways while staying true to its iconic comedy and raunchiness.

It may not be the show's best year, but there's still nothing like it.

It shouldn't seem as audacious as it does that Big Mouth thinks young people have the right to be gross and confused and ready to assert themselves in whatever way they choose, but it does.

I struggle to think of another show that examines sexuality, mental health, gender, body image and family dynamics to such a magnificent extent. This is a show that isn't for teens and yet all teens need to see it.

Diving into the layers of who Missy is growing to be only enriches the experience of the series while taking nothing away from how broadly appealing and relatable she is no matter who is traveling along with her adventures.
December 10, 2020
Big Mouth is committed to its humor above all else.

Much like puberty itself, certain moments of Big Mouth's fourth season are awkward and messy, while others are sublime and unforgettable, but they all set up a promising future that can't get here soon enough.

As smart as all these arcs are, it's Missy's storyline that deserves the most praise.

Despite all of these additions to the stew, Big Mouth is so confident in how it works and vibes by now, the episodes still all taste like comfort food of the highest order to fans of the show.

Fans of the goofily illustrated, tastefully tasteless world of Big Mouth will not be left disappointed by the latest season.

While the characters still largely survive their trials in one piece, the show's writers avoid pulling punches, delivering tightly written but narratively messy plots that acknowledge the traumas of growing up.
December 3, 2020
The vulnerable heart and gentle, but unabashed insight of the show is stitched together with a quick wit, wonderful performances, and writing that understands the moment we're in right now. ... one of the most provocative and intelligent shows out there.

If all this talk of serious "issues" makes Big Mouth season four sound like one long very special episode, rest assured that this series is still as funny and profane as it's ever been.
December 2, 2020
There aren't a lot of comedies that blend raunch with genuine insight in quite the way that Big Mouth does; the animation gives the show an elasticity that allows for genuine feeling to slip when it's least expected.
