Featuring stand-alone dramas -- sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales that explore techno-paranoia -- "Black Mirror" is a contemporary reworking of "The Twilight Zone" with stories that tap into the collective unease about the modern world. Each story features its own cast of unique characters, including stars like Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help"), Alice Eve, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tom Cullen and Jerome Flynn ("Game of Thrones"). Joe Wright, Dan Trachtenberg, and James Watkins are among the featured directors.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

With a yield of installments that range from instant classic to woefully undercooked, Black Mirror's sixth volume indicates a series that's no longer on the bleeding edge of sci-fi but hardly resting on its lofty laurels.

Everyone will have their own favourite performance but, for my money, Aaron Paul is the standout as one of the astronauts in what is also probably the best episode, the retro-future Beyond the Sea. Go to Full Review

How a show defines itself is ultimately less important than the quality of the stories it tells. And by the latter measure, Black Mirror is on an upswing. Go to Full Review

As the high standards of Charlie Brooker’s dystopian anthology series go, this is a good but by no means impressive new season. Go to Full Review

"While not every episode of Season 6 of Netflix’s Black Mirror quite hits the mark, it ends up being the show’s riskiest yet, with several excellent ideas." Go to Full Review

Whether it’s futuristic, dystopian or horror elements, Brooker’s stories are becoming more real than they should. There are certainly some misses but “Beyond the Sea” and “Demon 79” stands out amongst the rest for their clever themes. Go to Full Review

Troy Aug 30 This show is worth watching. So you can understand it in its context. Put together as a Netflix highlight in its choice of series. The show pulls at small ideas and envelopes them into a whole, often distasteful episodes. This program also strings an audience a long quite well, judged from my own perspective and can leave me lazily watching on and mildly entertained in obscurity and for the reason I write this review kind of disappointed to add to the traffic of it’s audience. Meaning they will make more… There are the odd episode which I can personally vouch for as a niche positive story, romance or interesting fiction. What I think isn’t great is that it’s being pumped out relentlessly with no signs of being anymore imaginative and becoming spam. This episode for instance and an example with a lot of episodes is that once you eventually get a grip of the plot you can forget about the loop holes that left your sewing ball in a tangle of knots and yes you will be led down the road to appreciate it for what it floods out. I understand there are some good actors and talent to put together this show. But artistically in my opinion it’s failing and has been since some early distasteful episodes. Given Netflix focus on ‘content’ not imaginative television. Arguably to what ends a lot of streaming services are delivering. On a positive note keep looking for creative talent because it does exist. See more DIEGO P @Diego435 Aug 17 This season is horrible because they completely changed the concept of the work and started to include "supernatural", well, if I'm going to watch supernatural I'll watch the series about it, including the one called: Supernatural See more Aberro A May 1 Absolutely worst season. And it gets worse with each episode. Joan Is Awful wasn't great, but it wasn't awful, just an average, a bit boring, overly simplistic. The next episode is just some family thriller, third one was plainly stupid and unbelievable in a sense that not for a moment you believe that what's happening could be real, and fourth one is just like a bad B-rated 90s horror movie, but not bad enough to be good, it's just like I've spend my time in worst possible way watching it. And for the next episode I've just looked up the plot and decided it's not even worth starting to watch it. Damn, the season is so bad that I even posted review. Don't even start it, getting drunk to blackout isn't as bad way to spend your time as watching this season. See more Ebony N Apr 26 This season was bad compared to the other seasons which I loved. Can't believe I waited this long for these storylines. Even the first season starting off was incredible. I thought this season would outdo the rest, it did not. See more Matthew G Apr 17 The show has lost all intelligence. No intriguing ideas, no moral dilemmas, no ironic twists. If you want a better werewolf story I'd recommend Teen Wolf. It's as if they had the basic idea of a concept in mind and wasted the audiences time until the reveal. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtin is better done and more of a twist than what they show. The show also confuses gore horror as shock value, rather than a legitimate twist. Any time you kill off a family with kids, or a pet you lose the audience, and me. No one wants to see that. See more Fuq U @Westek12 01/04/2025 Way underrated. I am usually in lockstep with audience reviews but not this time. I honestly thought it was the best season thus far, with the final episode (6) as the best episode of the entire series, bar none.
