Critic Reviews for Bless This Mess Season 1

All Critics (11) | Top Critics (6)

It's a solid 22 minutes of television, offering exactly what's been promised since Elizabeth Meriwether and Lake Bell's sitcom earned a green light, from the promising ensemble to the tried-and-true premise.

Interesting subplot - sexy magnetism between farmer E Begley Jr. and local cop Pam Grier.

The premise is very easy to dismiss, but I'd still recommend sticking with it. Give it a few episodes to find itself.

Bless This Mess isn't trying to wow you with needless razzle-dazzle. It's just a well-written show with an endlessly likable cast that'll make you smile.

The talent behind Bless This Mess is the epitome of competent comedy

Bell and Meriwether's script has precious little time to set up what the series is going to look like, and therefore gets to quick work making it all happen as soon as possible.

Escapism has its place, but this feels more insubstantial.

From the stars to the ensemble to the assembled creative talent, Bless This Mess has the elements to become a pleasant comedy success, but with only the pilot, very hung up on establishing its premise, to go by here, it would require me to project.

It's a feel-good, easy to watch sitcom. If you're looking for something to unwind to after a stressful day this is a good show. It'll give you a good laugh.

Love the shows premise and actors...Not very good research on the Huskers nor the state lol

This show is terrible. Just terrible. Of all the time I've wasted in my life I regret what I spent watching this show the most.
  • Sep 05, 2019
This show makes me chuckle. Love Lake Bell in particular. I am rewatching episodes again.
  • Aug 15, 2019
Clever writing and great delivery timing. Not slapstick or pushy humor which is so very refreshing in this current comedy show climate. Each actor owns their character, even Courtney...😉 Looking forward to season 2.

I think this show is hysterical. I haven't laughed this much since Seinfeld and Parks and Rec. I really appreciate that you can even watch it with kiddos.

Lake Bell is my spirit animal. Never have I found someone who speaks to my generational experience. This is a great, safe, funny show.
  • Jul 05, 2019
I really like the main couple, but the rest of the characters not so much. Still a pretty good show.

I love this show. It's clever, funny, and the actors do a great job. I myself moved from Brooklyn to Nashville TN and now own a cabin in the woods with chickens so I got these jokes on a personal level and LOVE this show. More episodes! More seasons!
