John Doyle Globe and Mail 08/05/2022
It’s a bewitching watch, filled with ridiculous puns delivered by host Nick Uhas and with sometimes withering criticism from resident judge Katherine Gray. Go to Full Review

The competitive reality beats of Blown Away will be familiar to any viewers of Top Chef and Project Runway. But there’s wonderful alchemy on display, too, as artistry is shaped from sheer heat and physical process. Go to Full Review

The fun and tension of the series comes from how temperamental glass is to work with. Their creations break as pieces break off, and in some cases, they even explode. Go to Full Review

Mary G @RT69513929 01/19/2023 I always enjoy the artists and greatly appreciate seeing their work but the hosting is cheesy, campy, and clumsy. The two and a half stars is for the artists and their work. Get rid of the lame jokes, spend less time on the host banter, and spend more time on the artists and their work and the show will be a winner. See more Dalene J @RT14069226 08/18/2022 Interesting to watch the artists but the cheesy dialog of host and judges is a real turn-off. Is this the producers that require this forced dialog? You could also edit to show the work of both the winner and the loser. Could be a much better show. See more 08/13/2022 The judges often contradict them selfs and there opinions of the final pieces and are frankly have abrasive personalities which come of as pretentious. In other works they all seem to have there heads up there a** The idea of glass blowing in the US is a big no no if this is the community. The contestants on the other hand make some incredible pieces but the show would have been more enjoyable without the harsh and un-needed criticism throughout See more 08/09/2022 After the Christmas mini-season I was really looking forward to Season 3. The competitors this year were a nice mix of seasoned artist with decades of glass blowing behind them and younger artist with half as much experience. There were many beautiful and creative pieces that ended up getting the artist sent home. The judging was inconsistent yet consistent in that it usually went in direct opposition to previous comments made about how a good or bad a piece was. A piece that one minute was deemed to be hard to read, confusing, or miss the brief, suddenly turns out to win "best in glass" for that day. Episode after episode, it became more and more obvious that this seasons winner was already decided before the season even started. The ‘winner' barely used 10-15% of the assigned gallery space in the finale rehashing a theme from a prior challenge. What was done, was mostly flat on the floor. Meanwhile, the runner up created a piece that filled their space standing 7-8' tall with portions conforming to impact points and surfaces spread out across most of the width and depth of the space. I don't think I've ever seen a such judging bias or a more blatantly rigged competition. The winner was no surprise what so ever and was obvious before half way through. See more 08/07/2022 I couldn't figure out how to give it zero stars See more 07/31/2022 After enjoyable S1 and S2, down came the rain of S3 and washed the spider out. It felt awfully rigged and one-sided. The judges made a lot of contradictory critiques calling one piece "too literal", just to mark the other one as "too abstract". Unfortunately, beatifully crafted eye-catching art was at disadvantage for most of the show. I do not recommend Blown Away S3 to anyone with nerves that can brake as easily as glass. As I am the one included in that group, my heart shattered under the weight of the judges bullshit. See more Read all reviews
