Critic reviews for Golden Days for Boys and Girls

When Nucky Thompson is getting nostalgic for his Dickensian childhood, you know that things can't be all copacetic in 1931. Not so good for Nucky, very good for us.

As things draw to a close, the odds of the great characters developed over the last four years reuniting grow, which can only lead to great things. A less scattered Boardwalk is one that will likely end in triumph.

[Terence] Winter told me he wanted to bring the story of both Nucky and the series full circle, and Golden Days for Boys and Girls begins that process in more ways than one.

We got a glimpse into Nucky's childhood in Atlantic City. It was a fitting series of flashbacks, which gave all new perspective to what drives Nucky. The scenes at his home served to remind us how far he has come.

Nucky's flashbacks really contained all of the emotion here in "Golden Days for Girls and Boys." Everything else was interesting (and wonderfully violent), but represented power moves that provided a lot of plot but little heart.
