“Boots” isn’t a perfect show, but it’s a sweet story with its heart in the right place and plenty to say. Go to Full Review

I’m sure the discipline of training works for some people’s psychology, but Cope is so naïve and the show is so unwilling to build toward a larger critique that Boots comes off as propaganda. Go to Full Review

Boots inevitably dramatizes one big paradoxical fact about military life: It’s innately a very homoerotic environment, but perforce a homophobic one Go to Full Review

Boots doesn’t just entertain – it opens a door. It reminds that sometimes the loudest battles happen in silence. That surviving the system doesn’t mean it didn’t leave marks. Go to Full Review

Tom F @RT55173143 3d A process seemingly designed to strip people of their individuality actually reveals the depth of their humanity. See more Johann D. M @Johann33 Jul 8 🏳️‍🌈 Blending humor with heartfelt drama, the series feels remarkably authentic, capturing the emotional intensity, relentless discipline, confusion, and fear of military training. At its core, it is a compelling coming-of-age story that thoughtfully explores masculinity, friendship, and queerness within one of the most traditionally masculine institutions. It is impossible not to empathize with the protagonist and experience both his suffering and his triumphs alongside him. The performances are convincing, the chemistry among the recruits feels genuine, and the balance between comedy and emotional weight is handled surprisingly well. While some of the more uplifting moments lean into sentimentality, they feel earned after the emotional journey the characters endure. It is a shame the series was not renewed, as it had plenty of room to grow, but it still stands on its own as an entertaining, refreshing, and emotionally resonant story. See more H H @HHHHHH739 Jul 3 Awesome series. Well written, heartfelt, great characters, good acting. Too bad there won't be a season 2. Note: this is Norman Lear's last project. What a great way to go out. Also note all the gay characters were played by gay actors. Good move! See more Sierra B @sbmbolin Apr 19 I loved this series! Such a good story line. I hate that it wasn't renewed for a second season. See more Bryan D. @bdemain Apr 9 Do yourself a favor and watch Full Metal Jacket. This kid is gay. Entirely stupid premise. Not real life. See more Becky G @RT90591662 Mar 27 I held off on watching this because I thought it might be cliché, but I now realize that I shouldn't have trusted that marketing take. Boots is a wildly simple, chaotic, thoughtful trip, relatable and relevant, and Sony needs to shop and ship season 2 somewhere else. Netflix is foolish to let it go. See more Read all reviews
