06/19/2021 I had decided to bingewatch Breathe when my Prime subscription was about to end. I had taken my Prime subscription only to watch all the popular shows like The Boys, The Man in the High Castle, Mirzapur, The Family Man, The Tick etc. I had seen Breathe's ad sometimes, but I used to think it's just some cheap-quality show like Panchayat or Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare that has just taken Ram Madhavan because he doesn't get films nowadays. I don't know if I could possibly be more wrong. This is one of, if not the best Indian Prime Originals out there. Breathe is not very long, and yet adds so much suspense that it makes a minute feel like five. I was doing my college projects on my laptop and the serial was running on my phone that I had kept beside. Initially I had thought I will only hear the dialogues during the conversation scenes and look at the screen only when the action scenes come in. But as soon as the action began, I immediately rewinded the video to see what all had happened which led to these events happening. And afterwards I was paying less attention to my work than I was doing to Madhavan's. Remember what I said about the serial being cheap? This serial is exactly the opposite of it. It looks very well cinematographed. It is shot such that it looks more like a movie than a serial. The colour grading, the image balance, the rule of thirds - everything has been followed correctly. The story is such that the villain can never be considered a bad guy. The viewer can empathise with him. They can feel what it feels like to be him. On the other hand Kabir Sawant, in spite of being the correct person here, seemed more like he was the one who was interrupting everything. The acting is better than most serials that I have seen, so I don't think there's any point praising it further. Breathe is the most underrated Indian serial that I have ever watched. Everyone who has a Prime subscription should watch it. It's way better than the Abhishek Bachchan sequel at least. I really wish that serial is just a spin-off and the second season of this show gets uploaded soon. See more 11/21/2020 Unbelievable. The last episode really shook me, I have to admit the plot and ethical dilemma, a beautiful story. Along with 'the forgotten army' this is one of the best shows on primevideo! See more 05/16/2019 Breathe works as a big-time R. Madhavan overdose, and no one wants that. Lousy screenwriter, and lazy premise followed by 'bad' performances especially by Sneha Pabbi. Despite description of a smooth relationship, Madhavan and Vishwakarman aren't into an ideal connection as father and son. I am going with one star for Amit Sadh's performance and an extra half for Madhavan's- nothing else saves your show. Yes, it is that un-good. That bad. See more 08/06/2018 I had high hopes for this show because it started out well. Acting was great and story seemed to be building well. Ultimately, it ended up being cheesy and full of cliches. We are supposed to think the cop who beats people up to force false confessions is the hero? The ending made very little sense.
