Critic Reviews for Brews Brothers Season 1

All Critics (10) | Top Critics (5)

There are some laughs here and there, and indeed some pretty outrageous situations. But over the course of the eight-episode season a kind of sameness sets in.

Apr 8, 2020 | Full Review…

Netflix's beer-filled sitcom Brews Brothers wins you over with its amicability, even if it's not as funny as it wants to be.

Apr 8, 2020 | Full Review…

Despite the promising material, I sat through the first two episodes of Brews Brothers (Netflix) in sober silence.

Apr 9, 2020 | Rating: 2/5 | Full Review…

Brews Brothers is often just the cardinal sin of loveable-dope sitcoms: boring.

I'd feel much more confidence in [It] moving forward if the writers had dedicated half the time to characterization that they gave to types of yeast, beer classifications and what happens if and when somebody dips their balls in a frothy beverage.

Apr 10, 2020 | Full Review…

Brews Brothers takes a few episodes for the actors to settle into their characters and for the show to find a nice rhythm.

Apr 8, 2020 | Full Review…

Raunchy sibling sitcom has crude jokes, cursing, drinking.

May 15, 2020 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

This show feels like everyone is still figuring things out. Maybe Brews Brothers will get there. Maybe not. The bigger question is whether the brand of comedy its serving up is still palatable to an audience.

May 15, 2020 | Full Review…

It features one or two performances, and some actors, and is dumb, slapsticky and ill-conceived, not least in that there's no one to rail either for or against. Especially for.

Apr 14, 2020 | Full Review…

Brews Brothers is funny and is easy going down, like a smooth pilsner. But we'd rather it be a little deeper, like a good ale.

Audience Reviews for Brews Brothers: Season 1

    Hilarious can't wait for more

This was almost unbearable. Many televisions shows have come before with the awkward, almost uncomfortable to watch moments, but the character or the show has some sort of redeeming quality. Think Michael Scott from the Office; awkward and wrong, but all he wanted was love and friendship. Brews Brothers, has none of this. You feel for Wilhem and the contentious relationship with his brother, Adam. But Adam's character is just fowl. I know its supposed to be a mockery of pretentiousness and prideful hipster culture but just when you thought there was glimmer of hope, Adam shows up and ruins everything by opening his mouth and truly makes you want to jump into a volcano. The dialogue isn't even funny when he is being so grating. The actor did a great job of me making him loathe his existence, so kudos to him. However, this also ruined the show completely. I would have gladly crawled belly first over all the glasses he broke in one of the episode if it would have stopped this murder bus of a show. It was just unbearable after a while, we did our best to give it a shot, but wow, it was unrelenting in its cringe factor. My husband even said, he would rather watch The Cheeto in Chief do a five hour press conference while simultaneously being punched in the nuts. I don't have testicles but... I wholeheartedly agree. Shame on Netflix for green lighting this one. I'll watch reruns of anything else instead.

Stumbled across this show on Netflix and was so glad I did. Genuine characters, unexpected comedy, and such a spot-on depiction of the brewery scene. It's got the perfect combination of raunchy humor and heart.

This show was frickin' hilarious and gets even better in the 2nd half! I love the cocky brother. He reminds me of a lot of beer snobs I know. Ciceroneeee!
  • Apr 28, 2020
It's silly but the potential is there, the cast is great, not every joke lands but when it does its great. If this show gets a second chance I hope they keep all the good and work around the not so good and I think we would have a VERY solid show.

I usually attempt to give any show I watch two episodes to make an impression - I didn't need that long for 'Brews Brothers'. It's a pretty terrible show, unfortunately. When you witness so much toilet humour in a less than thirty minute pilot episode, you know you're in for an unenjoyable ride. I'm not even sure what the exact premise for the show is, just two brothers acting like children and battling to see who is better? Weak. The way it's shot is a little odd too, it has a low-budget documentary feel to it. I remember somewhat liking Alan Aisenberg in 'Orange Is the New Black', but the same can't be said for this show.

Fresh, clever, the concept we've all been waiting for. A brewery sitcom! Writing is solid, acting is solid, spot on casting, I only hope there's more episodes!
  • Apr 21, 2020
Literally one of the worst shows I have ever seen. The writing is astonishingly bad, and not helped with the lackluster acting and flat directing. I wish I could give this a zero. A half star is way too much for this drivel. Broken Lizard wouldn't even put out something this awful.

'Brews Brothers' is the worst thing to happen to craft beer since Untappd, and perhaps the worst thing to happen to beer in general since the 18th Amendment.

Love the concept and idea. Characters and actors are great. Really hope for a continuation of this series.
