Bridgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parent’s footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne’s prospects initially seem to be unrivaled. But as her older brother begins to rule out her potential suitors, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown casts aspersions on Daphne. Enter the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes’ mamas. Despite proclaiming that they want nothing the other has to offer, their attraction is undeniable and sparks fly as they find themselves engaged in an increasing battle of wits while navigating society’s expectations for their future.

When it comes to being swept off our feet, even vicariously, we want it old-school. Go to Full Review

However, what works early on is the theme of relationships being tested... Best of all, the yearning romance fans crave is here, too. Go to Full Review

It’s another story of unrequited love made possible by poor communication, the avoidance of social scandal and undeniable chemistry, which is exactly what you want from a season of this steamy series. Go to Full Review

Bridgerton is no longer "just a romance". It’s a family ensemble, except they have yet to make all members of the family equally compelling. At this point, that is a feature, not a bug. Go to Full Review

Bridgerton is brilliant with them [Thompson and Ha] in the center, but they need to cut off the storylines that are not working. In the meantime, the season that exists is not good enough for us to give anything but a tepid thumbs up. Go to Full Review

This spectacular affair was so stunningly choreographed, and so magnificently ambitious, that even if you've never seen Bridgerton before, it's worth watching this opening episode just to marvel at the spectacle. Go to Full Review

Mischa J @Mjs8589 6h Absolutely way better than season 3. The two leads are so believable and you just fall in love with them. You can't help but root for some way through for these two See more Denisse M @densvelmen 1d The first episode moves at such a relentless pace that it leaves little time to catch up with everything happening around the characters. This stands in stark contrast to the subsequent episodes, which at times become rather tedious, save for the moments featuring Sophie’s storyline. I hope they find a proper balance in the second part; surprisingly, it took me an entire week to finish four episodes. This was never the case with any of the previous seasons, which were so engaging that I managed to finish them in a single day. See more Aye E 1d My favorite season so far, although I'm afraid that the delay in the last half of the season might ruin that by getting my hopes up then disappointing them. Benedict is my favorite of the Bridgertons, and so far there is plenty of yearning but it's not nearly as tedious as the previous seasons, which on rewatch are more drawn out and boring than I remembered. And I'm finding Sophie one of my favorite characters as well, she's more relatable and reasonable than the other romantic partners of the clan. See more Bri H @bri_h 3d I personally found this season to be one of the better ones by far. Criticisms from previous seasons were taken and it shows when it comes to the dialogue, the cinematography, and just the overall pacing of the show (at least so far for Part 1.) The on-screen chemistry between Benedict and Sophie felt immediate to me and I love how the show is navigating the build up for their romance. Seeing certain moments from the book come to life on screen was so exciting and didn't disappoint. Also, Yerin Ha is an incredible Sophie. She truly glowed in every scene. I'm excited for Part 2! See more Pam @Breckals 3d I wanted to love it but I can’t. They should have found out who she was at the last episode of part one and built in their relationship in part 2. See more Harley C @Harley241 4d I wanted to love it but the characters and development is SO repetitive, unrealistic and frustrating. Don’t waste your time. See more Read all reviews
