chris p @RT68515126 Jul 13 I came across this by accident but was hooked from the first episode. The acting is superb. Every character is so well done--a great depth of character. I finished with Season 3 and keep trying to slow down to make certain I savor each episode. I see that there is a season 5. I'm very much looking forward to it. In Season 3 Astrid experiences her first kiss. The scene was so beautifully done, so intensely romantic. I can't think of a series I have enjoyed as much. See more Stephanie B @StephB 02/12/2025 It is such an entertaining series. Acting is great from everyone, the format is so much fun. It’s been aired in France but we unfortunately have to wait another year in the US for season 6! See more Jesse M @RT19191651 01/29/2025 This is a spectacularly well written and well acted series. It stands alone as being completely unlike any procedural mystery I have ever seen the interactions between the characters are exceptional and very moving. In many cases I recommend it extremely highly. See more Sid V @RT57588663 01/26/2025 Two stars for the actors who must have had to deal with a producer and/or director hell bent on turning Astrid into an American looking show. Absolutely loved the first three seasons but I'm not sure I can continue watching. Too too bad. See more Doreen V @RT41903258 01/11/2025 Astrid’s first 3 Series shows were outstanding. Series 4 is ruined by the horrible and inappropriate music, which takes away from the amazing quality of the shows and turns them into American comedies. If the music was removed, I would give it 5 stars. See more Lynn D @RT75370583 01/04/2025 In a word, Astrid is remarkable. In one more word, it’s inimitable, too, which must be why no one has dared to create a show even influenced by it. It just can’t be done. It’s by far the best series I’ve ever watched on PBS, beginning in 1985, with The Jewel in the Crown and followed by many dozens of outstanding shows. Astrid deserves 10 stars (yes, out of 5) for writing, acting, directing, producing and everything else involved in making it the unique, touching and brilliant experience it is. I’ve watched it three times . . . so far. And those three times were all within the first 2 months. But the music in the first episode of S4 ruined the episode for me, and it may have ruined the whole season. It’s as if someone who had never seen the other three seasons or even read about them decided on a whim to “update” the season by picking music without listening to it first and inserting it at random in the episode. The choices disrupt the flow and are so completely out of character for the series that I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep watching. See more Read all reviews
