Tv Season Info

Amy Poehler is an executive producer for this comedy, the brainchild of comedians Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, who also star as Ilana and Abbi, a pair of twentysomething, pot-smoking best friends in New York City who seem to have an inexhaustible supply of awkward situations, absurd encounters and excellent excuses for not working too hard -- if at all. In Season 1, Abbi and Ilana try to scrounge up the money to buy tickets for a secret Lil Wayne concert; Abbi bug bombs her apartment, and Ilana loses her keys, so the ladies face a life on the streets just in time for Abbi's first art gallery show; and Abbi promises a neighbor she'll wait for his package, but misses its delivery, so she goes to extremes to recover it. Their inner circle includes Lincoln (Hannibal Buress), Bevers (John Gemberling), Jeremy (Stephen Schneider) and Jaimé (Arturo Castro), and the list of guest stars includes Fred Armisen, Rachel Dratch, Janeane Garofalo, Jason Mantzoukas and Amy Sedaris.

They [the creators] know how to nail situations/characters, while snappy edits cull fluff, leaving only comic gold. (Plus great guests like tonight's Hannibal Buress or Feb. 5's Janeane Garofalo.)

There's a lot to like about Broad City, and much of that appeal has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the Comedy Central series is by women (including executive producer Amy Poehler) and about women. But some of it does.

Broad City's Ilana Glazer, one of the show's two stars, makes IDGAF look both easy and fun, a kind of ecstatic, contagious IDGAF!

Its two featured newcomers skid along just fine, earning exceedingly small victories en route. It's a decent bet that many viewers will be left with smiley faces.

All told, the series represents the sort of sharp sensibility and fully realized comic point of view that the network has long been chasing, albeit with decidedly mixed results.

This outgrowth of a cult-hit web series is a lighter, wackier and often funnier version of HBO's Girls.

Absurdist buddy comedy is female-friendly, but very edgy.

Broad City is a brilliant half hour of comedy that mines familiar and original material in equal parts.

The show's tone is also confident in a way that is singular and doubtlessly forged by the struggle to come up through the overcrowded Web and bolstered by the approval of someone like Amy Poehler.

For all the laughs, this series has something deadly serious to say about the view from where Abbi and Ilana live.

Broad Cit" shares some obvious DNA with HBO's Girls, but its appealing duo of Jacobson and Glazer make the big hot mess of surviving in New York City seem more rowdy and fun.

fairly creative initial effort in the vein of workaholics. perhaps the characters will develop?

Best and funniest TV show I have ever seen. The characters and stories are seriously awesome.

An overall great first season, and start to the series. The second half wasn't as good, except the season finale. But Ilana and Abbi are very good actresses. And Hannibal Buress as Lincoln was honestly tied with the girls for my favorite character.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this show. From the outset it seems like a very traditional sitcom set-up; two women living in a big city, in their 20s, stuck in limbo struggling to 'do what adults do' (see '2 Broke Girls'). But this is so much more charming and funny than the usual sitcoms churned out by the dozen in America... perhaps because the web-series it was inspired by was an indie project from the outset, and relied on the chemistry of everybody involved. There's plenty of awkwardness, but the cringe-worthy situations are offset by the friendship-cum-platonic-marriage Ilana and Abbi have. Every episode is hilarious, and set to some pretty cool music, too. And they've had the series renewed for another couple of seasons! I only hope they can maintain the high standard set in the first couple. Definitely watch this if you like your comedy small-scale, indie and with a healthy dose of weird.

In a post-Girls tv-landscape, it's easy to see Broad City as another rip from Dunham's DNA, but a more intrinsic source of the show's make-up might be in the series producer Amy Poehler. It revels in the casual lunacy of network favorites like 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation, just with more bawdy references to sex and drugs, all while being a very humorous look at the love/hate relationship our 20-something generation has with white privilege. Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer also prove to make for very watchable leading ladies, and their characters' personalities are so ideally different, yet also remarkably alike. Hopefully season 2 will be even more of a leap forward creatively for this young, yet bold new comedy.

Funniest fuckin' show on Comedy Central, that's for damn sure. Love it.

BFFs, blaze buddies and daily Skype companions Abbi and Ilana star in the most wonderful show I have seen in years. Take the Broad_City_Logocrass and straightforward humor of Inside Amy Schumer, add a more connected and ongoing plot line with two best friends living in NYC (á la Flight of the Concords), plus stoner humor around every turn, and you can begin to have an idea of what this show is about. Started by some UCB alums, and with a slew of amazing funny lady guest stars- they had me at Amy Sedaris, but Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, and Janine Garafalo also show up in an episode or two- Broad City is the feminist answer to Workaholics. This is the show that I have been waiting for and I think that many of you will agree that this refreshing take on a female-led comedy show has been a long time coming. And don’t worry, it has been man tested and man approved. It took me three days to burn through the first (and only) season. When the boyfriend caught the last episode with me, he found that he loved it too, and I watched the entire season over again with him. Now I’m fiending for the next season, which has
