Please, anything but "Broke." Abby ... us ... especially you all deserve better.

With Camil working his Rogelio magic, Leggero pushing aggressively for chuckles, Diaz's amusingly fresh characterization and fleeting warm-hearted moments, I can see the elements in Broke that might coalesce into something better eventually.

We saw glimmers of a good show in the pilot, thanks to showrunners Alex Herschlag and Jennie Snyder Urman's insistence on taking time to build the characters instead of going for cheap gags.

Audience Reviews for Broke: Season 1

  • Jun 28, 2020
The writing is so forced in this comedy that even the canned laugh track dropped out of the last few beats of several episodes. Just like the audience, it couldn't finish a full episode either. It's a shame, the cast is talented; but there's no saving this show.

Great refreshing comedy with great casting in my opinion... Somewhat different from other sitcoms but I do love the refreshing concept. Light comedy, lots of fun!

Couldn't even finish the first episode. What were they thinking?

I like that the show has realistic storylines and the characters are being given more personality and depth after first appearing that they might just be portrayed as broad stereotypes (shallow, out-of-touch rich people and struggling single mom with no flaws). There's always a heart-felt moment in each episode that is not played for laughs. I like that Javier and Luis converse in Spanish. I'm sure it was done to attract Hispanic viewers, but it is realistically how they would interact. I do have a criticism of how Pauley is dressed. Poor people do brush their hair sometimes and wear other types of clothes besides jeans and old T-shirts and baggy sweaters. That's all she is shown wearing even to parent night at school(?) Let her brush her hair and put on black pants and a blouse (or even a nice T-shirt!) every once in a while.

I was really disappointed in this show. I tried to keep watching it over 4 episodes, but it got sillier and sillier. She should have stuck with NCIS. Seriously.

So....2 Broke Girls was cancelled....and replaced with the exact same concept show and it's this? Wow. What a slap in the face to such a good show like 2 Broke Girls that show deserved more. I really tried with this one but after two episodes we just had to turn it off. Not worth it.

This show is too stupid too watch.

This show is ok. Actually think this could be better without Pauley Perrette. She just does not fit this genre. I think she made a mistake going this route. The rest of the cast could possibly make a funnier show without her.

I was surprised to the the low audience score. Might be the xenophobes. This is a light and funny show with a ton of heart. I especially love the banter between Javier and Luis.

Wish Natasha Leggero was not part of this disaster 'cause I love her. This show, not so much.
