Whatever its roots, Bull is a repellent mix of behaviorist fascism and pseudo-intellectual arrogance.

There's probably an interesting show to be made about this line of work, but "Bull" quickly lapses into the standard prime-time bull.

While the series tries to dazzle you with high-tech sophistication, it fumbles around when it comes to the human factors.

Bull might offer a cool new tweak to the TV legal drama... but it leaves the tried-and-true CBS blueprint untouched.

If you're tired of high-concept dramas and serialized offerings that require far too much viewing time in your already jam-packed schedule, Bull is certainly a light, breezy offering that could help you unwind after a long Tuesday.

While there are definitely moments that allow the show to redeem itself, the overall try-hard feeling results in a lukewarm product that isn't worth spending your time on when there's so much other quality television out there.

Derivative legal drama is nothing new, way too talky.

A fine star vehicle for Michael Weatherly and fans of him will dig this drama full of stereotypical characters.
September 21, 2016
Weatherly fans will love this. There's a different case each week, giving the brilliant Dr. Jason Bull ample opportunities to analyze, scrutinize and crack wise.

I doubt it's possible for a CBS legal drama starring former NCIS player Michael Weatherly and debuting between NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles not to be a hit.
September 20, 2016
It's a little ridiculous, and rarely convincing.
September 20, 2016
When Bull avoids that kind of tinny grandstanding, it's enjoyable but not particularly memorable, and there's really no evidence that the show has ambitions that transcend that goal.

Even Weatherly's most devoted fans may find this one a load of bull.

Only the fact that Weatherly is so likable keeps Bull from being unbearably obnoxious.

Bull isn't trying to be a bad show. It just is.

But wait! This is something different - it's about a trial consultant who advises clients about how to choose and influence a jury. If you think that's going to make this series something special, you may need some analysis of your own.
September 19, 2016
Nothing against Mr. Weatherly, whose likability transfers easily to the new series. It's the premise of the show that's off-putting.
September 19, 2016
Weatherly is a solid actor as well, but his performance in Bull isn't enough to overcome that show's bad writing.

Bull is sleek in look, pace and technique - and crafty enough to indulge CBS' trademark dollop of human feeling amid the flash. But it's essentially breezy TV junk food, leaving behind a prefab aftertaste.

A little too much of a Xerox of a Xerox of a Xerox.
