Critic Reviews for Burn Notice Season 7
All Critics (14) | Top Critics (6) | Fresh (11) | Rotten (3)
Burn Notice is done. The narrative arc of the show essentially wrapped more than a year ago.
Burn Notice never fell into the trap of taking itself too seriously, but it always had a heart.
A solid if not especially inspired start to the show's final run: a villain with potential, some decent Jesse/Sam banter, and at least two instances of people running from explosions in slow motion.
A show that, against the odds, remained wholly its own.
Week to week, and especially season to season, I couldn't always tell you exactly what Burn Notice was or wanted to be. But at its best, what it was was something very simple, but much harder to pull off than it looks: Burn Notice was fun.
I suppose fans will be fine with this, but the final season demonstrates why I find a lot of these final seasons to be tedious and beyond the jumping point past the shark.
As USA Network's Burn Notice wrapped its seven-season run, sacrifices were made, rights were wronged, things blowed up good and we even got a couple of wonderful winks to the show's ingrained-in-all-our-brains opening credits.
It was a heartbreaking moment.
This is a much different Michael Westen than we've seen before, thus making this a much different Burn Notice than we've seen before. That's not necessarily a bad thing.
With the introduction of a new boyfriend, a new villain, new bosses, and new status quos to be dismantled, this final Burn Notice season premiere efficiently got the ball rolling again like the show had never left.
Farewell, Burn Notice. May Michael continue to dish out spy tips in his head from his couch in front of that roaring fireplace.
It's worth remembering what an explosive impact Burn Notice had on establishing USA Network's brand of broadly appealing, easy-on-the-eyes escapism, and it has been a key component of the summer lineup since June 2007.

Jul 10, 2018This is my favorite series of all time. The characters are great, the plots are fascinating, and the outcomes are always good (isn't that what we like in good versus evil stories?). I mourned this show's cancellation.

Apr 12, 2014USA's Burn Notice wraps up the show nicely in its final season, having great writing, incredible performances from its cast, especially Donovan, and plenty of great action.
