Took me by surprise. Very compelling.

FINALLY something fresh! This is the first time I've been so locked into a series that I forgot the world was still going on around me. Calls may appear to be a glorified podcast but it's so much more than that; the sound design, visuals, voice acting... all of it is so well done and pieced together in perfect harmony to keep your attention locked to the screen and on the edge of your seat. I am so thrilled to have found this gem.

An interesting and compelling storyline with a great form of entertainment only through sound which has a terrifying sound design, psychological and philosophically horrifying ideas that will keep you up with its brilliant structure, compelling connections and suspenseful runtime. The sequences will have your heart racing and your insides screaming at the edge of your seat with compelling, sometimes loosened and stretched scenes that will terrify you completely. One of the best series ever!

This is a game-changer. I binged this within a couple of hours but I can say it is possibly the best experience I've ever had watching a series. This needs surround sound because every noise in the background is a portal to their world giving your mind just that bit more of a peek into the characters' worlds. It is deserving of a theatrical release.

Incredibly clever apocalyptic sci-fi story told through 9 interconnected phone calls with clever visuals and amazing voice acting… give it two episodes and you'll be hooked!
  • May 29, 2021
A masterfully-defined dialogue-driven mystery that reminds me of "The Twilight Zone" but without a single frame of photography across its nine stories, "Calls" acts as a defibrillator for our dulled brains to think about the verbal details in a more puzzle-like approach in a dominantly visual media-scape.

This is the dumbest thing. I guess it's what passes as entertainment in the states.
  • May 17, 2021
It's a pod cast and doesn't belong on a TV service.
  • May 03, 2021
3mins in and I was bored, the "minimal visuals" sound like an excuses to not produce a real series.

Turn off the light. Lie down. Close your eyes. And listen to the calls. A TV series on Apple TV+. It's 9 episodes with conversations between multiple people on the phones, and we had the chance to figure out the stories, just by listening. This had to be one of the most unique, stressful, and thrilling experiences that I have with a series. Each time, the conversations started out fine and realistic, but then they become more anxious and thrilling. On the screen, there were hypnotic and abstract waves that simulated the conversations. However, I found that just listening and not watching the video created a profound experience where I could imagine what was happening. My only problem was that once I figured out the story, which was fairly early on, the subsequent episodes became a bit predictable. Overall, an awesome and thrilling experience. Watching in the dark boosted the thrilling feels. 9/10
