The fact that the eight protagonists are pretty much relentlessly petty, stupid and childish makes it hard to invest in any of them.

One is left with the impression that 'Camping' wants to be a great comedy, but can't. [Full Review in Spanish]

Because neither Dunham nor Konner have the instinct to pierce their characters' jugulars, Camping becomes an accidental portrait of toxic femininity.

Instead of a wild weekend, this is another observational sitcom with a high cringe quota.

But the general sense is that Camping is working its ass off for not quite enough reward.

Dunham has always been a better dramatist than she is a humorist, but this leaves you fearing she has almost no sense of humour at all. A waste.

The main problem with Harry is that she's just not around enough to make up for everyone else's a**holery.

Garner's character receives the most significant development of the bunch, and even she's two-dimensional at best.

Everything on this show is a lot.

Instead it drags, hitting the same notes about Kathryn's obliviousness and self-dramatizing, and it starts to feel like a long weekend indeed.

The inherent truth of that theme, and the casting, ultimately don't provide enough incentive to muster much enthusiasm for Camping. Even at the Groupon rate.
