News & Interviews for Cannon Busters: Season 1
Cannon Busters isn't a perfect show. But it'll be one that will soothe you into fun memories hanging out with your favorite anime shows. The show's saving grace, in fact, is its masterful handling of nostalgia.
Even though the anime is beautiful, the storyline takes a while to pick up. Hopefully next season, the writing will be stronger so it can match the visuals of this beautiful series.
Cannon Busters is edgy and fun, and if you're fans of the comic book series, or like Thomas' cutting-edge work, you will not be disappointed.
Cannon Busters is a refreshing oasis of action-packed trope-tastic science fiction and Western fantasy featuring a diverse cast, genuinely likable characters, and heaping helpings of nostalgia.
Cannon Busters is the anime equivalent of a popcorn flick. It seems to have no greater message and no greater themes to explore -- the show's focus is on comedy and action and thankfully, it does both rather well.
For many, the draw of this series will be a chance to see a diverse cast in an anime format. But if that isn't enough of a draw, the anime contains a ton of fun adventure and puts its own unique spin on well-worn anime tropes.
Audience Reviews for Cannon Busters: Season 1
Feb 10, 2021This show veers uncomfortably from: desert post-apocalypse, pure traditional fantasy, video game style, comedy, extreme violence and horror, mech anime, ninja epic, goofy sci-fi... I probably missed a few. I made it to the end in order to see what on earth it was all about. Nothing, apparently. All its elements are just there. It's like story-by-committee, like one exec wanted this and one exec wanted that, and so on... It might be possible to mash genre elements together, but it would have to have a compelling central story. This very half-arsedly tries this with the prince, but it's far too little, far too late. So, the end result it just a nonsensical mess. It doesn't help that the main protagonist is literally invincible, although I found the ninja more annoying, because he is apparently capable of literally anything, and can dodge bullets, like some kind of wizard. That was lame in Star Wars too. So the protagonist is unstoppable and if the situation ever becomes...effort, then the robot girl has a super cannon that can do anything. It really makes a nonsense of what little plot there is, because there is no tension at all and ultimately no point to anything. Also, 'beer makes me stronger' is so stupid. The whole thing is just a stupid mess.
Jun 26, 2020I am a big fan of lesbian Thomas and his artwork and was really looking forward to this but this show is so hard to watch. I tried so many times to finish it. The story is so unappealing because you do not care about the characters and their goals. All of the main characters are not like able at all. I would not recommend watching this and I understand why Netflix did not green light another season instantly. Lessen needs better writers
Apr 01, 2020It was terrible. It wasn't even good enough to pass the time I dragged through each episode hoping it would get better and kept getting proven wrong. The action was very linear with chase scenes that had obvious outcomes and terrible solutions. Character design seemed to barrow from other anime which in the end didn't seem to fit together.
Feb 10, 2020Horrible plot, no character development and a rushed story. The main character (Philly) is useless and cannot really compete with the villains all fights basically end the same, with Sam going Canon Buster for no reason and just ending the fight. Phillys immortality is a joke, mainly used for comedy with the writers killing him in many stupid ways. I tried giving it a chance and hoped it'd get better as it progresses but I was wrong everything just made me ask "why???"
Oct 19, 2019I loved this show but I loved the opening more.Hope it gets a season2 with another great opening.
Oct 16, 2019Binge Worthy Eye Candy: A fresh take on classic anime tropes, beautiful style and design sense. The story won't be for everyone and it wains in parts but the pacing fits the episodic narrative, I got a sense there was mor to the characters and a few more episodes may have allowed for richer character development but overall a solid watch, binge worthy eye candy! It's different, and a lot of people may not be ready for that.
Sep 21, 2019Extremely boring. No fun at all. No comic parts, boring jokes. Yeah, man is immortal, they "kill" him in each two episodes and he returns to life kicking buttocks. Repetitive. Meh. The 2 robots, especially the one wanting to befriend everyone is annoying, to say the least, I mean, the tool wants to befriend even a rock, has no idea what's happening around her and gives no sustance to the plot except a boring background story. Siri is a more intelligent AI than this stupid, derp droid. The dialogues are not smart. The car that turns into a robot does nothing but run and show off. Then, you see ZERO real action, ZERO real character development. There's no theme to follow, no idea where the plot's going. I do not recommend this show even to my enemies.
Sep 04, 2019It's very unique and very well written. An amine I like on the same tier as cowboy bebop, but it's speaks to a community I can relate to in an awesome way.
Sep 02, 2019A complete mess of half develop characters, bad villians, superficial story and good animation
Sep 01, 2019Main character pass their time to do boring thing that have nothing to do with the main story line. Main character is imortal but this should not be a reason to make him die the most stupid way all the time...
