Children's TV is usually wholesome entertainment that can be enjoyed by the whole family, but child psychologist Mike Painter thinks there's one show in particular -- "Candle Cove" -- that might not have been so innocent. No one seems to remember the 1980s show except for Mike, and he has ever-growing suspicions that it might have played a role in a series of nightmarish events from his childhood, including the disappearance of his twin brother in the summer of 1988. When he returns home to investigate what happened all those years ago, Mike finds out that it -- whatever it was -- may be happening again.

There's a steadily increasing claustrophobia that comes through in The Dream Door, and it's not just in the conflict between characters on-screen, but also in the set dressing and camera work itself. That is no happy accident. Go to Full Review

The Dream Door... works because it fleshes out the original story. The people become actual characters, and the villains have entire backstories and motivations that cannot be gleaned from the creepypasta. Go to Full Review

Stephen C @bob25009 Jul 23 6 successful episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more Jacob B Mar 5 A phenomenal final chapter in the series, if not my personal favorite chapter of the bunch. The only downside to it is the fact that it is the last chapter….ever. It is inexplicable to me how lesser properties such as “American Horror Stories” or “Slasher” or “Walking Dead” keep getting renewed while this truly frightening, disturbing and well written series was cancelled despite near unanimous critical acclaim. Well, at it least it went out on a high note with its small but dedicated fan base. Here’s hoping it will be revisited someday. See more Chloe M 01/17/2023 this show really frustrates me to no end. I feel like I'm one of the only ones who didn't really care for it. it's just disappointing that they took the authors really good stories, and used the concepts to make whatever they wanted. I get that's part of what art is, i really do, but to put the show out there as if they were making the stories for tv is so misleading because that's just not what they did. like the first 2 seasons are named after stories they didn't follow. season 1 did a pretty good job, I'll give it that, but after that it's just random. no end house was the worst in my opinion. dream door was okay, a little better paced like butchers block, just took a disappointing turn I guess. started out like they were gonna follow the story with a few differences but then it kinda just got weird. the whole creating a door through some weird dream seizure was just kinda funny, not "woah" like i think they were intending. and the scene with Ian eating the burgers made me so sick to my stomach. also the whole weird baby scene was so unnecessary. like it added really nothing at all other than a reason for Tom to go outside. maybe I'm just picky, but they picked really really good stories, and barely followed them. it's not like they took real life situation and made it more dramatic. and I get movies from books are rarely accurate and they have more source material. but it feels like past the first season they didn't even try to follow the story it came from. I think the idea is great, they picked some of the better creepypastas, and creepypastas are meant to let your mind wander at the end, so i get taking it in your own crazy direction. but after season one they really put no effort into making it feel like I was watching those stories, just odd spin-offs/copies of them. I wish they would've called them something else and said like "lightly based on" whatever creepypasta, it just doesn't seem all that hard to tell the actual story, and THEN turn it into your own crazy story. glad it's over and I can find something else to watch, had high hopes but ultimately was pretty disappointed :/ See more Hank M 03/16/2022 Wonderful!
