With renewed interest in the 33-year-old disaster has come a curious sense of moralizing proprietorship - which makes you wonder what, exactly, people are getting from the miniseries.

Chernobyl is a thorough historical analysis, a gruesome disaster epic replete with oozing blisters and the ominous rattle of Geiger counters, and a mostly riveting drama.

They've done a really great job depicting the emergency... [And] It's this amped-up version of the debate that we have now about issues like global warming and our inability to agree on facts apart from political spin.

"Chernobyl" the series has been nominated for 19 Emmy Awards, and it deserves all of them - especially for Harris and Skarsgärd but also for Emily Watson.

The triumph of Chernobyl as a mini-series, then, has less to do with its uncanny ability to present an accurate picture of the past, and more about its prescient ability to gaze forward.

The best miniseries since Band of Brothers.

A thrilling retelling of the true event. Add a huge learning lesson that shines the light on nuclear technology globally and the potential issues that could occur anywhere. It highlights how fragile life on earth for us all truly is.

HBO knew it had a winner in its hands, but props to the creators for not overdoing it. What a perfectly balanced show

    Disgasting lies and propaganda

Excellent acting, great cinematography, gripping, intense, and it made me want to learn much more about the Chernobyl incident after I saw it. Excellent television. Almost made me forgive HBO for the crappy end to GoT! See it. Please.

It's difficult to find a weak link in this banger of a show.

This is probably one of the best short series I have ever seen. I did a paper on Chernobyl when I was in school back in the nineties and to my knowledge this series stays true to the real events (to a certain degree, but very close) and one of the best cast characters for the roles. Captured me within minutes, watched the entire thing as soon as an episode was released. Horrifying story, and seing it from "the inside" (fictionally though) really was creepy, but also a story that had to be told! If you havent watched this series yet and you are just marginally interested in history, this is a must-watch for you!

Morden masterpiece this is how a series shhud be maide
  • Nov 03, 2019
Harrowing account of the Chernobyl catastrophe takes some liberties with the facts, but is excellently produced with a good cast; the focus is - besides on the actual impact of the explosion - on human frailty and the political bureaucracy's attempts to contain the truth.

A must see, not only for the historical significance of the tragedy but for the beautiful portrayal of humanity that is conveyed. Bravo to all the cast and the writer. This is not fiction and yet sends chills down your spine.
