watermelon222 @RT54606614 09/20/2023 Absolutely terrible, there is nothing enjoyable about this show whatsoever. See more Sal M @Sallo 02/06/2022 Chillin Island is based off of the podcast, with the same name, and is distributed by HBO, and Elara Pictures. The show is about...well, that's the thing. It doesn't exactly have a plot. It's just three guys who have a special guest come on the show, to explore the adventures of the world. But it's way more bizarre and down to earth. The History Channel meets VICE meets Adult Swim. That is the best way to explain what this show is. Some may love it, other may not. See more 12/21/2021 It was highly uninteresting the actual footage of who filmed it was great but the content and story was lacking See more susan j @CallMeLulu 12/19/2021 1.5 stars for scenery/cinematography. Otherwise--torture. After watching I went to the DVR list: "Do you want to delete all upcoming episodes of Chillin Island?" I couldn't hit YES fast enough. I've never been more relieved to know I won't ever have to watch a show again. Why? Mostly because it's pretentious AND dumb. One of the worst combinations in life. The characters mumble "profundities" of the caliber of 8th graders who populate the slow classes when they're high on potent weed laced with angel dust. The pace is stomach-churningly slow. The guest or whatever he's supposed to be was as dumb as a charred rock. Y'see he watches the Discovery Channel, and mis-remembers many pithy factoids. Like a horse can ejaculate inside a woman and make her pregnant. A gorilla can do all the same things as a man like drive a car but can't be held accountable. The regulars on the show are morons--a bunch of tedious New Yorkers languidly arguing, for example, about whether Yiddish and Hebrews are the only people who "make that acccch sound" or whether Russians and "all Eastern Europeans" do too. Not even fun, or funny, morons. Think blow torches burning up cans of Chef-Boy-Ardee Ravioli and eating military rations in the desert. Throwing a rare/endangered snake high in the air for laughs. Asking a Native guy if he can be called "Billy Boy" or would it sound patronizing--then droning an explanation of what patronizing means. The most suffocating voice in the universe, Steven Wright, who sounds like he is nodding out, is the narrator. Instead of waterboarding, the CIA should strap people to chairs and force them to watch this show. It is that bad. See more Read all reviews
