Chrissy's Court: Season 1 Reviews

May 13, 2020
There's really nothing else to see here outside of some harmless fun.

Chrissy Teigen absolutely owns it.

I mean, you know, they seem like they're having fun.

Teigen keeps things lively with celebrity guests and banter with her "bailiff" mom, but your mileage for this show may vary based on your appreciation of the host - the cases are decidedly frivolous, and some are more interesting than others.

I don't know if it's the giddy, slap-happy energy of the whole thing, or the slow fugue state watching five hours of Quibi shows has left me in, but Chrissy's Court was a delight.

Infrequent language and some iffy humor in TV court show.

Teigen is funny and patient and actually a pretty good judge.

With Teigen's mom serving as "bailiff" and husband John Legend appearing as an expert witness, this 12-episode order of mayhem is a great pick for fans of drama, chaos, and well-accessorized robes.

The clever premise of "what if you translated Teigen's endlessly compelling online persona into a court show format?" doesn't always work... but the episodes are very short and easy to bolt down in procrastinary bursts.

The courtroom format is a perfect match for Quibi's quick-hit style, with one case per episode, and Teigen's goofy charm lends a playful vibe to the proceedings.

It's the perfect Quibi show - like a TikTok that got a little out of hand, but it ends just before it stops being funny.

This is basically Judge Judy, except Chrissy Teigen is the judge, her mom is the bailiff, and the cases are completely ridiculous.

If you like your stakes low and your production values shaggy - in the fun way - you might get a kick out of Chrissy Teigen hosting her own courtroom show.

Sporting spectacularly gaudy statement necklaces over her black robes, Teigen brings her goofy charm and genuine curiosity about people to these hearings, which are the perfect length at seven minutes each.
