While it's still quite a distance from the Wire mountaintop, it begins its sophomore session with the brash confidence of Kevin Bacon's Jackie Rohr.

'90s Boston remains a shining cesspool, and Kevin Bacon is once again a multi-layered treat as heavy-drinking, coke-snorting FBI agent Jackie Rohr.

City on a Hill is one of those series that makes television better -- or at least more relevant. Beyond its social relevance and power to challenge tribal thinking, it is fine entertainment.

Exciting series with excellent plot twists and acting. I'm not a big fan of television but this show is actually worth watching. Perhaps it's the best series since The Shield.

I am blown away by this season. While I was a fan of season 1, this time around the writers and cast really elevated the storytelling to the next level. Kevin Bacon in particular inhabits the despicable Jackie Rohr with such ferocity that I don't know if I'll ever be able to look at Footloose the same way! The writers have managed to pull off an even more complex storyline without losing me for a minute. Somehow, together with the actors, they've been able to bring more depth to each character in a way that is so engaging without sacrificing moving the plot forward. It's tightly wound and crazy taut, but the best part is the few reprieves you get every episode in the form of laugh-out-loud funny scenes. This is the only appointment-viewing show I've watched in years and I can't recommend it enough.

Pretty much watch because I'm from New England. Cool that at least one actress is local and she's great. Overall it's fine, but if I couldn't relate to some characters, I'm thinking would probably be all set with it. SPOILER ALERT: I'm perfectly fine with suspension of disbelief but no way a husband and wife could represent individuals on different sides of law. That's a conflict of interest. It's literally impossible.

Written into oblivion. The stellar first season had a strong central plot with unique character side stories. Yet this season's writers waste Hodge, and Bacon, and Hennessey's talents on irrelevant and implausible plots. The stresses spouses face while trying to have a baby and (somehow) serving as opposing counsel to a criminal defendant, a savvy politician (somehow) unaware that her children are the drug lords of her community, a mother (somehow) hand delivers drugs to prison and then executes her supplier in a public park? This is just silly now. This show was a new Law and Order now it's Grey's Anatomy/How to Get Away with Murder.

Not sure who writes the scripts and then who directs, but the storyline continuity is totally crap. The overall series storyline is ok, but the filming, obscure tangents, character disappearances, and skipping through matters with little or no conclusion is making this unwatchable. The makers should be glad we're all kind-of locked up due to COVID, because at this stage I'd be ready to drop this show if there was anything better on TV.

    Amazing. Worth the wait.
