Clean Sweep is a serviceable, perfectly watchable Irish thriller, if you can get past its many credulity-stretching twists and its frequent excursions into the just plain silly. Go to Full Review
Michael Starr New York Post 06/22/2023
It offers a compelling, elaborate-puzzle murder mystery that will keep you guessing all the way through to the end of its sixth and final episode. Go to Full Review

Wild lurches in tone and plausibility are endemic in contemporary crime drama, but too many of Clean Sweep’s mood shifts feel heavy-handed and harebrained. Go to Full Review

Clean Sweep squanders its premise of a convoluted murder mystery in favor of family dynamics that lead nowhere and story offshoots that are introduced and then ignored. Go to Full Review

Dense and twisty murder mystery series with a far-reaching case, a human trafficking ring, and the reopening of cold cases in order to solve a murder. Intriguing fast-paced psychological drama and police procedural in which we root for the baddie. Go to Full Review

Kyra M @Kyram 01/16/2025 Charlene and Barry made it! See more Konrad S 01/11/2025 Top quality Irish drama. Highly recommended. Ruined a little by the crass English actors but had me hooked from beginning to the very last minute. See more Gerry G 11/16/2024 Shinawil have done some really good productions but this isn’t one. The direction is plodding and some of the acting is just plain bad. I personally know many actors who would have done a lot better. Edit was clunky too. I thought Irish productions had gotten better than this. See more Litzy B 11/09/2024 I'm not entirely sure which series some of the positive reviewers watched? I doubt it was Clean Sweep as none of the comments resonate with the programme I have just sat through. It was disappointing, disjointed and clichéd. Many over-used storylines, some of which remained loose ends. Probably THE most annoying thing for me was the dreadful attempt at an English accent by Adam Fergus. My conclusion is this amounted to hours of my life I'll never get back. See more Shane O 11/09/2024 This is an average series. There is some confusion as to location. At times, there is mention of being set in the 'wild west' which one would assume is the west of Ireland, either Sligo or Galway maybe. At other times, there is a clear indication that the series is set in Wicklow which of course is the east of the country. There's also some stereotyping around whiskey drinking and dangerous Northern Irish criminals that appeals to reductive English and US understandings of Ireland. That said, the series has many intriguing plot lines, is exciting, and builds tension quite well. I was personally disappointed about the main characters arc. At certain times it seems she is a skilled criminal - avoiding CCTV, demonstrating forensic awareness, and it seems to be implied that she has a past that will eventually reveal the origins of this. However, at the end she is reduced to a person whose crime was emotional and committed out of desperation, which leads to confusion as to where this forensic awareness and criminal acumen originates from. Worth a watch, but certainly won't go down as a classic See more Sinéad W @Sine_86 11/06/2024 Felt very American at times. Little details like - drinking whiskey - Irish stereotype from the Americans. Most Irish people mix their drinks they don’t drink them neat. There was a nurse in the school, I’ve never heard of a nurse in a primary school in Ireland. There was a bitchy PTA woman, very American-esc. Saying things like “Slan” and “salinte” just felt very forced. Like an American would predict we would say that. Teenagers using the word “snog” for kiss. Which is British. There was no consistency, culturally speaking. It was like an American had wrote it based on their time living in Ireland. Not as bad as other Irish films that have been written by Americans, but it was still noticeable. So I couldn’t enjoy it. See more Read all reviews
