Combat Hospital has accomplished what a few years ago I would have thought impossible: it has made the dramatizing of an ongoing war boring.

In spite of its serious subject matter, there's something about Combat Hospital that feels like a gag, or at least like one of those trumped-up TV shows they slip into real movies for the sake of comedy.

It's unlikely that any TV drama filmed in Toronto could ever come close to the bloody reality of war, but Combat Hospital makes a pretty compelling attempt at doing so.
