Critic Reviews for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2

Like a magic trick, the season two theme song turned out to be the key to one of the most, well, nuanced season finales I've ever seen.

Crazy Ex is thus endearing, even inspiring, as well as totally bonkers. But hey, aren't we all?

Throw in a few dynamite song and dance numbers, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend feels just as joyful, courageous and ambitious as we left it.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend provides seamless, wacky storytelling that happens to bring in feminism, ethnic diversity, LGBTQ representation, and the tackling of mental illness without ever feeling bogged down.

Rebecca's gone dark, and it looks like Paula, Valencia, and Heather are right there with her.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will need to be pretty careful in particular about how Rebecca toes her own moral line if this season's going to keep itself together.

All of this time, we haven't been watching a musical comedy. This has been a super-villain origin story all along, and next season, we're going to see Rebecca give into her madness.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has pulled off some mighty tricks this season, from delicately off-boarding one main character and bringing on another, to completely fragmenting and then rebuilding its female friendships.

Rachel Bloom's hilarious relationship show (with musical numbers!) may be a little bit more focused for its second outing and that makes this often overlooked gem twice as good.

The cadence is the same, with romantic subterfuge being planned like a series of heists, but with the new recognition (at least by some characters) that these fantastical shenanigans affect people's lives.

Audience Reviews for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Season 2

  • Apr 11, 2018
this show, in all its complexity, has the bravery to directly address some of the main issues of modern society. although it is direct in introducing topics which range from unreciprocated friendships to crippling mental illness, it does it through clever dialogue, songs and other techniques so that the audience still has to do some digging to uncover the message which is trying to be transmitted. not much more to say. watch it if you haven't.

    This show is incredible! ???? 'crazy ex-girlfriend ' ??
  • Feb 08, 2018
Although the politics of the show is annoying, I thought it was cute and entertaining. It gets way too vulgar with lots of gross body function focus and the second season was not nearly as interesting as the first.

What has HAPPENED here??? Aside from the feces / relationship comment followed by Paula's brilliant response, Season 2 is pretty bad. I'm so disappointed because Season 1 was really something to sing about! Still love Paula though...

SO. GOOD. Paula's storyline about her career, unexpected pregnancy and abortion was excellently done. I'm sure so many women could relate to her situation and it was refreshing to see it handled without the usual extreme sadness/guilt that it usually is. It was really lovely, thank you! More please!

Great show - more people should see it

I love this show but I desperately miss Greg! That's the only thing keeping my rating from 5 stars. Rachel Bloom, however, is incredibly talented and funny. If Santino Fontana (Greg) gets his own show, I'll be watching!!

Words cannot descriibe this show and it glorious essence.

The moment you take away a strong character and make every other character development restart from scratch...and make it feel like the first episodes is a big #let us get rid of greg# i just say no thank you.

Again, my cry is I WANT TO TATTO THIS SHOW ON MY SOUL. Also, any show that mentions Costco sheetcake is immediately the best show ever.
