Even if it’s unoriginal, it’s not unenjoyable. Scott can do a brilliant but troubled detective just as well as Idris Elba (Luther), Matthew McConaughey (True Detective), Dominic West (The Wire) or Krister Henriksson (Wallander). Go to Full Review

On paper, it’s a standard police procedural of the kind you find everywhere. But what lifts it above the ordinary is an incendiary performance from Dougray Scott. Go to Full Review

Few writers could write about such horror and still make it funny. At times, anyway. Go to Full Review

Here's a deadly drinking game, for anyone with an asbestos liver and a craving for gritty police thrillers — watch Irvine Welsh's Crime and take a slug of cheap whisky every time it rips off Rebus. Go to Full Review

Again, it’s really hard to get excited about anything in Irvine Welsh’s Crime outside of Dougray Scott’s performance. But once again his performance draws viewers into the story. Go to Full Review

Once again for Welsh, his native Edinburgh proves an irresistible setting. Go to Full Review

bob c @RT46426964 Jan 8 Some of the dialogue was incomprehensible so I bailed See more Fig M @fig-mint Jul 19 I love Irvine welsh. And the main actors are great. The script is bad. So so so bad. The plot is completely absurd and nothing follows any basic professional rules at all. It’s a giant eye roll. See more Theo S. Héro + @RT09212872 03/11/2025 Couldn't make it 25 minutes, TRASH! See more Roger B @RT24848280 09/10/2024 Thoroughly enjoyed the first series, Dougray Scott was and is excellent. Recorded this and started to watch series two last night. Watched half an hour or so, turned it off and deleted the whole series. Cliche ridden. Lazy, written with half a brain working and desperate to fit in with whatever is acceptable to the present metropolitan elite herd thinkers. If you don't agree with unlimited immigration or people changing sex - men who look hideous as women and for some inexplicable reason we are supposed to enjoy and support this travesty - then you are obviously a right wing bigot and not a normal person with accurate working sensibilities. I have no problem with other peoples' choices but refuse to sit and have it rammed down my throat by a third rate writer. See more C P @RT39189303 08/14/2024 Such good acting, especially from Dougray Scott. in the middle of this season though it shoots itself(sorry) in the foot with absurd plotting and character assassination. It really takes away from the compelling nature of the series and a character trying to heal from trauma, it inflicts more on the viewer! It becomes so predictable that I'm happy that it finds. way to be the last season. Was a great show until a few episodes into Season 2. See more Paul D @RT41273839 08/10/2024 One star for Edinburgh being a great place to make a crime drama. Half a star for Dougray Scott being a great actor. But the script. It’s like they sat around a table for a few days and checked off every possible politically hectoring cliche. Then chucked them all in a blender and spread the resultant goo over 6 episodes. They should have spent a few hours watching Happy Valley to see how it could have been done. See more Read all reviews
