Critics Consensus

Though the seventh season hits largely familiar beats, Larry David continues to mine the mundane for humor, and Curb Your Enthusiasm is as funny as ever.

Critic Reviews for Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 7

All Critics (32) | Top Critics (19)

It's vintage Larry - bad behavior that only gets worse as the half-hour goes on - and it begins to set the stage for the season's main event, the "Seinfeld" reunion that may or may not bring about another even more important one.

Jan 24, 2020 | Full Review…

It's a clever, funny start to these proceedings, although just a bit forced at times.

Indeed, the real and fictional "Seinfeld'' reunion...is the meta event of the year, unfolding effortlessly and brilliantly across the [later] episodes of "Curb."

Jun 5, 2018 | Full Review…

The "Seinfeld" plot doesn't kick off until the season's third episode. The first two, meanwhile, are a reminder of what a brilliant show, and a deep cast of characters, Larry has built.

I'm as surprised as the next jaded television viewer to report that the first episodes of the seventh season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" have either won me over or just worn me down.

Larry David is a comic genius.

Overall, this season was a bit disjointed and not among the very best Curb has offered. But look, this show has some tremendously high standards it has set for itself.

Jan 24, 2020 | Rating: 8/10 | Full Review…

[Larry] David is absolutely pushing the limits of TV comedy on issues of race, gender, coarse language, mental illness and physical disease.

Jan 24, 2020 | Full Review…

Season seven manages to embrace that new direction while simultaneously engaging in the show's most blatant grab at nostalgia to date, by introducing a season-long storyline of Larry finally putting together a Seinfeld reunion show.

Jun 14, 2018 | Rating: 4.5/5 | Full Review…

This new season-long arc isn't only a downright clever idea, but it keeps Curb functioning at its peak.

Jun 14, 2018 | Rating: A- | Full Review…

It's gotten to the point where it doesn't seem to care whether or not it's mirroring the frustrations and social faux-pas of real life, yet you can count on there being something here to offend just about everybody.

Jun 13, 2018 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

[Larry David's] use of the Seinfeld cast, particularly in the final two episodes of this season, has improved both shows.

This show continues to make everyone laugh with classic Larry David
  • Jun 05, 2019
Larry gets a bit meaner in this season, and it gets harder to like him, but the return of the Seinfeld cast for the reunion show is like inviting old friends you haven't seen for years into your home, and becomes a satisfying conclusion to Seinfeld.
  • Dec 19, 2018
Loved this season, and in particular, "The Reunion" with Meg Ryan guest starring.
  • Dec 07, 2013
