The thrill is gone in Cursed Films. Entertainment journalists and horror moviemakers recount these stories not with enthusiasm, but with an edge of embarrassment that seems apologetic. Go to Full Review

The material found within Cursed Films is so engaging that it's frustrating that the presentation doesn't raise to that same level. Go to Full Review

The biggest question now, and always, is how realistic some of those conspiracy theories might actually be, and filmmaker Jay Cheel has given fans a wonderful outlet to explore some of those questions with Cursed Films. Go to Full Review

The series doesn't expect its viewers to buy into superstition. But like horror films themselves, it knows that what we fear tells us a lot about ourselves. Through that lens, the study of these curses becomes worthwhile. Go to Full Review

CURSED FILMS is a five-part documentary series that offers a thrilling look into some of Hollywood's most iconic horror films. With each episode clocking in at around 25 to 30 minutes, it's perfect for a series binge. This isn't your traditional docuseries. But this isn't just a rehash of the same old rumors and myths we've heard repeatedly. The show's writer-director, Jay Cheel, journeys through some of the most notoriously "cursed" productions, including THE OMEN, THE EXORCIST, POLTERGEIST, THE CROW, and THE TWILIGHT ZONE movies. Cheel interviews experts in the horror industry to provide viewers with a comprehensive understanding of the facts behind each production. One of the most intriguing episodes of the series explores the infamous film POLTERGEIST. This episode looks into the rumors that real skeletons were used in the movie's climax and the tragic fate of two of the film's actresses. However, CURSED FILMS is interested in more than just the macabre details of these tragedies. The show attempts to uncover the truth, debunk some of the myths, and delve into the emotional impact of these events on the cast and crew. CURSED FILMS is a cinematic experience taking us behind the scenes of these films that had tragedy befall them. The result is a comprehensive picture of why movies like THE OMEN, THE EXORCIST, THE CROW, and POLTERGEIST captivate audiences long after their initial release. What may have shocked me the most were THE TWILIGHT ZONE episode; while I knew of the movie, I had no clue what horrors happened on set. No matter how much you know, there's always more out there. This is a series that's perfect for both horror enthusiasts and casual moviegoers. It's a cinematic exploration of the stories and legends surrounding some of the most famous horror movies ever made. CURSED FILMS is a must-watch for horror fans and anyone interested in the darker side of Hollywood history. With its unique and nuanced perspective, CURSED FILMS offers a fascinating look into some of the most iconic horror films ever. First I want to say I am thankful this series has brought to light the complete piece of garbage of a human John Landis is with his blatant disregard for child safety and human life. I will NEVER watch or recommend a single Landis film in my life, and if any of his films ever come up, I will be sure to tell people about what I learned in this series. I had seen that Twilight Zone film as a kid and always thought it was Mediocre, but had no idea such a horrific event took place while making. I feel like most people don't even know about it, and they absolutely should. This man should have never been allowed to make another film, and should be spending the rest of his life behind bars. My main issue is they really didn't need to show the accident.... I really feel I am pretty traumatized from seeing that. I didn't expect them to actually show it. Maybe it does help you see the gravity of the complete disregard for safety by seeing it in full, but still, I am so sad from watching that. That being said, the series is good though. The Poltergeist episode is also very sad, but not due to bad filmmakers, just bad doctors. See more michael d 04/23/2020 Quality programming. See more Read all reviews
