It spins a dark and compelling story that now has seemingly come down to a survival duel between two women lawyers.

The Patty Hewes story is almost over, and in Close's hands, it's still compulsively watchable.

Damages has never tried to be anything other than what it is, and while the quality of the show overall has been uneven since the first season, its basic architecture hasn't changed at all.
