"Dave" centers on a neurotic man in his late 20s who has convinced himself that he's destined to be one of the best rappers of all time. Now he must convince his closest friends, because with their help, he actually might convince the world. Simultaneously exasperating and inspiring to his friends, he vows to leave no stone unturned on his quest to become the next superstar. The half-hour comedy is based on the life of rapper and comedian Dave Burd, better known by his stage name Lil Dicky.

Though this season of Dave is still great, it's definitely the weakest of the three. Burd throws a lot at the wall here in this season. Changing up the location, more high concept ideas, elements of horror, new themes about love. And though not all he throws here sticks, it still is ultimately very enjoyable. I still love the character of Dave, and even in some of the worst episodes, it still is immensely well written and enjoyable to watch. And when the ideas work, like in episodes 2, 4, and 6, the show reaches back to the funny yet heartfelt heights of season 2. What ultimately holds this season back from the other two is its lack of development in the plotlines and seeming criticism of the audience. That may sound bad, but I still really enjoyed this season, even if I was a little disappointed.

Can you make a better season, somehow keep the dark subplot and still keep it fresh? Yes, yes you can. Season 3 has it all.
