Maybe they'll be legends at the end of it all, but an even greater victory is finally being satisfied with who they are, legends or not.

I found Legends, in which time traveler Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) unites various heroes to stop the future destruction of humanity, surprisingly engaging.

The prospect of jumping from era to era to stop Savage holds promise, but there isn't enough interplay between the characters to add any dimension to the early episodes. If only they could go back in time two hours and make a different show.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow wears its intentions, like its future tech, on its sleeve - you're either in for the ride or you're not, no character deconstruction or cinematic analysis required.

Of course, it's supposed to be like a comic book, but the clumsy dialogue and stiff acting can be a bit much to get past.

With luck, the show will settle into a more sustainable norm. If it wants to keep having fun, it had better.

If we can just get some sharper writing, a better villain, and someone to fill the hole left by Snart's tragic departure, Legends might just level up.

These guys aren't legends yet, but if they play their cards right they just might get there one day.

But once said conversations have been had, after the i's are dotted and t's crossed, the times ahead promise to be spread across the ages and a whole lotta fun.

"DC's Legends of Tomorrow," like its quirky ensemble of characters, shows great promise in living up to its grandiose title.

Like the "legends" themselves, it's got plenty of potential, but ultimately it may leave us wishing its harmful and outdated depictions of consent had been jettisoned in the past, where they belong.

By the final two episodes, and Legends Of Tomorrow finally seems to have found its feet. It may have taken a while to get there, but now there's the sense that it knows what it is and what it has the potential to be.

Legends of Tomorrow certainly did have a lot of potential, but with so many problems in its foundation, it comes as no surprise that the show isn't able to maintain interest even for its short 16-episode premiere season.

While the show clearly has its flaws... there is more than enough to enjoy here, and we look forward to seeing what happens next.

There's relatively little blood, and the ethical thrust of the series -- a team of unlikely heroes save the earth from a murderous dictator -- is a positive thing.

At this early stage, Legends of Tomorrow feels more like Agents of SHIELD at its outset: a way to extend the brand by any means necessary, and worry about what the show actually is later.

It does a nice job setting the stage for what looks to be one of the most fun and eye-popping shows on TV this spring.

There are other moments where you recognize you're watching something that wants to be a cross between Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy. Even if it never gets close to fulfilling that destiny, I'm sticking around to watch it try.

The hope is that it will be a show ultimately defined by fun moments and action rather than its muchness. But for its pilot, the muchness weighs heavy.

First ep is kind of a mess, but midway through it settles down and becomes a fun distraction. The cast is fun, the sfx/action scenes are solid and I'm down for the ride. Either you like the Berlanti Superhero formula or you don't it's fan service.

Legends of Tomorrow's action sequences are eye-popping, taking all that the Arrow and Flash creators have learned about stunts and special effects and fitting them into complexly choreographed fights, resembling the splash pages of comics fans' dreams.
January 20, 2016
Despite springing from those two platforms, Legends of Tomorrow can't make its characters jell, can't clarify its narrative mission and can't get out of its own way and stop talking.

Legends simply feels too loose, too campy. The perils here don't seem as perilous as much as comical - unintentionally so.

Unlike The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl, there arguably are too many characters to service here. Add a lot of attendant gobbledygook and mostly shopworn banter.
