In the mythology of "Dead Like Me," certain people, when they die, are offered the job of grim reapers. They get a rapidly healing physical body (which has a different face when seen by the living) and the chance to stay in the world until they collect a requisite number of souls. Then, the job passes to the last dead person on their list. The newest addition to this team is Georgia "George" Lass, who died at 18 after being struck by flaming space debris. She was pretty unhappy in life, and learning that death doesn't offer relief from living is not sitting very well with her.

The small band of ardent fans who followed the tragi-comic misadventures of sardonic office drone/undead soul reaper George (Ellen Muth) is likely to increase. Go to Full Review

What isn't explained is why they're always so cranky. Maybe death does that to you. Whatever the reason, the snippiness makes for great one-liners. Go to Full Review

Dead Like Me is certainly not for everyone, but it's a pretty darn unique little concept that's as effortlessly enjoyable as it is strangely insightful. Go to Full Review

While it's difficult not to wish that the show had ended on a more conclusive note, the superb performances (particularly by Muth and Patinkin) and quirky storylines cement Dead Like Me's status as a woefully underrated little program. Go to Full Review
