The dialogue in particular deserves a dis-honourable mention for its reliance on cliche. Wasn't there ANYBODY on the production that looked at what they were doing and said "Hey, you know what? This is pretty terrible, do you think we should get some other writers in?". There is not one reason why he would confess to a crime he didn't commit, it's ridiculous. The cinematography, direction, acting, music, lighting; all of it is the highest quality. Police procedure drives the story as the principles pursue a known sociopathic killer. A twisty story and cast of sympathetic characters assure the audience is kept thoroughly engaged. The director and the actors work wonderfully - there isn't an inauthentic moment from any of them; each actor manages to inhabit his or her character, which makes this series extra special.
