Season 1
Dead to Me
Dead to Me doesn't always deliver on the gallows humor that it promises, but the sterling duo of Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini elevates the series above its pulpier aspects -- offering a deeply moving relationship shaped by mutual grief.

Dead to Me is often very, very funny - but it's also rooted in profound emotion that makes everything matter.
Dead to Me deals with some serious issues but its twisty plot, comedic elements and the great performances at its center gives the show an undeniable energy and spirit.
"Dead To Me" is a terrific character study of two women with an extremely complicated relationship, and also like that show, is one of the best and most unpredictable series on television this season.
Only the pacing and occasional glib comment give the sense that humor is present, for "Dead To Me" provides no indication it has a sense of humor at all.
Informed by Jen and Judy's superficial brand of feminism, the dialogue rings true. Even better is the chemistry between [Linda] Cardellini and [Christina] Applegate, ideal foils who balance keen comic instincts with raw emotion.
While sustaining this sort of story is invariably a juggling act, this has the self-assured feel of a hit-and-run tale that's destined to keep running for at least a while.
Funny, bleak, wrapped up in slick visuals and smart performances, 'Dead To Me' is another worthy addition to Netflix's repertoire of female-led comedies.
There are several beats to this show where you can see what's coming up, but then there are others that take a complete right angle and head off somewhere new, keeping us on our toes while making us comfortable at the same time.
As the show goes on, the central fun and main performances remain strong, but the story's inherent messiness becomes more profound.
Dead to Me tries to be a whole lot of different things at once - but most of them succeed, actually, thanks to the strong work from [Christina] Applegate and [Linda] Cardellini.
It's a frustrating experience.
Dead To Me isn't really sure, from what I've seen, what it's about or even what kind of show it wants to be.

Feb 01, 2021A lineup of like-able leads and a binge worthy premise combine to make a captivating and wildly entertaining series that is well directed, well written, and that so successfully balances laugh out loud dark comedy with nail biting drama. It is also worth mentioning the irresistible chemistry between Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini.

Jan 07, 2021This is one of the best all round seasons of a show I've seen in the last few years. Mystery, drama and comedy are all perfectly blended up into one. Every single person in this does a stellar job, but the charisma between Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini is off the charts, the two have effortless comedic back and forth and their off screen friendship clearly shines through. A great depiction of grief and struggle alongside the LA suburban lifestyle but written in such a way that you cannot stop watching!

Dec 17, 2020Christina Applegate is absolutely amazing in this unexpected delight.

Sep 17, 2020Not bad, definitely has its moments. A little slow at times, but script is well written, and anything is possible in this storyline so you never know what's going to happen! The plot twists are great, and the beginning and end of each episode will have you saying "oh $#&%!"

Sep 10, 2020Two to three episodes in, it was clear how this show was gonna end. Men bad, women good (even if they were genuinely terrible). I liked it less and less as it went on, but kept watching because of Linda Cardellini and Brandon Scott(who played the only favorable character in the entire show). Save your time and watch a real show like Peaky Blinders or Cobra Kai instead.

Aug 31, 2020Season 1 moves along briskly, with sharp writing and great performances by the two female stars, especially Applegate. Season Two jumps the rails with silly plot points and soap-opera twists (come on, the surprise arrival of an identical twin brother to a murdered husband?) Plans for Season Three are a mistake, unless you consider that this, like all series that run out of creative steam, has become basically a jobs program.

Aug 04, 2020So I jumped on this one late and I regret not watching it sooner, it's a beautifully woven story about grief and the cast is amazing from top to bottom. I've seen both seasons and am eagerly waiting for season 3, Will Ferrell and everyone just knocked this out of the park.
