What to Know

Critics Consensus

An irreverent twist on the crime procedural, Deadloch's addictive mixture of mystery and mordant humor makes most of its corpse-strewn competition look comparably stiff.

It might sound a little cliche to say you’ll be guessing all the way to the end, but you really will, with unpredictable pace-propelling twists rolled out from go to whoa. Go to Full Review

It’s a great flip of the same old “women are being murdered” pattern we see too often in real life, and thus very often in crime shows. Plus, it has emotional beats but also so much comedy. Go to Full Review

If you were to take the British crime drama Broadchurch (and I do not mean its entirely unnecessary American remake Gracepoint) and mash it together with a feminist, less gun-packed Hot Fuzz, you’d end up with Deadloch. Go to Full Review

It’s described simply as a crime comedy hybrid and a “Feminist Noir Comedy”. Both descriptions work surprisingly well. For me, the comedy is hit-or-miss. Some scenes work perfectly, while others go very much over the top. Go to Full Review

Deadloch is one of the funniest, smartest, most unexpected delights I have watched in a long time. Go to Full Review

If it can stick the landing in the second half of the series, it'll be one of the best crime shows of the year; as it is, it's certainly the funniest. Go to Full Review

Kyle H @RT33525493 Aug 16, 2026 I loved this show. It's comedy, drama, thriller all in one and it's so well done. See more Kate T @ckat9 Aug 5, 2026 Once again, I get reeled in by the high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Man, you people have gotten so money is the only reason you exist now. Studio ownership in control of their critics and reviews will do that.. So I watched episode one and, oh my God I guess it's supposed to be a comedy but why isn't it funny at all? I am just so embarrassed for everyone, especially for the woman that plays the lead detective coming in, that must be Eddie? What a horrible actress. So Community theater. She would never be a police officer anywhere with that stupid demeanor and off the wall garbage talk. The whole Police staff mostly is a bunch of dunderheads. OK but at least be funny about it. No, no humor whatsoever. There are many negative reviews here, believe every one of them. This show is an insult to the gay community. See more K M @Secularhellhound1 Jul 20, 2026 An Australian dark comedy and murder mystery. I have watched it 4 times. I constantly plan my trip to Tasmania after watching it. I love the sleuthing and authentic, complex queer and Aboriginal representation. The dynamic between fastidious local Senior Sergeant Dulcie Collins and brash Darwin investigator Eddie Redcliffe is hilarious. One on my top 3 favourite shows of all time. See more Jackson M @Nshvlleindie Jun 30, 2026 The show you needed DESPERATELY! Deadloch’s the unlikely combination of comfort watching & addictive mystery. You’re wrapped in a cozy blend of fun personalities with a PERFECTLY blended puzzle that keeps you swiveling until the end. At first the co-lead actress is too much, but by episode 3 the writers get her figured out. See more A M @RT88186777 Jun 9, 2026 A must see, the whole concept at first looks a little questionable. Both seasons turn out to be unique and fascinating, makes you guess the reguess the plot all the time. Love the humour , and seriousness at the same time. A truly great show See more Lou M @Zipperella Apr 15, 2026 For someone who doesn’t usually like Aussie shows, this one is a cracker! It actually feels Aussie. Great storyline too. Enjoy!!
