What to Know

Critics Consensus

An irreverent twist on the crime procedural, Deadloch's addictive mixture of mystery and mordant humor makes most of its corpse-strewn competition look comparably stiff.

It might sound a little cliche to say you’ll be guessing all the way to the end, but you really will, with unpredictable pace-propelling twists rolled out from go to whoa. Go to Full Review

It’s a great flip of the same old “women are being murdered” pattern we see too often in real life, and thus very often in crime shows. Plus, it has emotional beats but also so much comedy. Go to Full Review

If you were to take the British crime drama Broadchurch (and I do not mean its entirely unnecessary American remake Gracepoint) and mash it together with a feminist, less gun-packed Hot Fuzz, you’d end up with Deadloch. Go to Full Review

It’s described simply as a crime comedy hybrid and a “Feminist Noir Comedy”. Both descriptions work surprisingly well. For me, the comedy is hit-or-miss. Some scenes work perfectly, while others go very much over the top. Go to Full Review

Deadloch is one of the funniest, smartest, most unexpected delights I have watched in a long time. Go to Full Review

If it can stick the landing in the second half of the series, it'll be one of the best crime shows of the year; as it is, it's certainly the funniest. Go to Full Review

Sharon M. @RT43607610 19h Smart, funny, and endlessly engaging. If you aren't used to the accents, closed captioning helps. Both seasons tidy up nicely, but keep you yearning for more and more. I truly hope there is another fast-paced, non-stop season. See more Robyne G @Zarzoo 5d An incredibly funny Australian Feminist/Lesbian black comedy/murder mystery….. I’d have to say, it’s the funniest movie I’ve ever seen….. and even funnier the second time round. See more Karen L @RT03223602 Apr 3 Completely utterly entertaining and brilliant! Love the dry Australiana humour, unexpected twist and turns… non-stop pace… cultural contemporary notes and laugh out humour…the writers, cast and directing are awesome!!!! See more Dan M @Danmq Mar 27 The whole thing feels overacted and full to the brim with cliches. Susie Youssef is always good... See more William R. P @Ogn_Dulk Mar 26 I'm 75 and straight. A lot of TV/movies are probably not made for me as their target audience See more Alain E @AlainE Mar 26 A good mixture of weird comedy and a crime series with a preponderance of gay characters. Somehow the colors appear off, like having a green or yellow tint. See more Read all reviews
