All action, twists and propulsive pace, it's a great pulpy distraction. Go to Full Review

Just enough enticing elements to pique curiosity, but lacking the execution needed to actually be good. Go to Full Review

A drama that will hook those who seek from their viewing a charge of adrenaline, if not always the most rigorously challenging of mysteries. Go to Full Review

If ever there was a time to watch a show about a plane disappearing with 255 souls on board during a global pandemic that has stopped most air travel, this is it. Go to Full Review

There's enough competence in the writing early on to suggest that the series could live up to a cast that collectively is better than its IMDb credits. Unfortunately, the talent obscures what is ultimately a disaster in the making. Go to Full Review

There's lots about Departure that's really silly, but Panjabi and Plummer carry the series into the realm of respectability. Go to Full Review

Dave C @RT09838700 18h Slow and tired CP, with lazy writing, and a lack of any real energy... Shame. Some moments to whet the appetite for more. Just about entertaining enough to keep going, but it didn't really improve See more billy S @RT89126810 May 28 Holy crap, Batman, how sucky is this? It was off to a brilliant start, and then some 16-year-old drama student must have suggested that surviving explosive decompression and a fall from 30,000 ft into a waiting liferaft was entirely realistic. Once you get to that level of absolute stupidity, you start watching for more ridiculous events. Whoever made this, give up. You have a better career waiting for you at McDonalds. See more Chris P @RT06285801 Feb 26 Wow! You have some really good actors and then just plain bad ones. There is something that is just sad when you have a good actor saying some bad lines. It felt with this show that they spent more time on sets and technology than with the writing. Again complaints with aviation movies-they get so much of it wrong . Seriously, do they do a 15 min consult with aviation experts taking a few notes, google a couple of good sounding aviation phrases and then just toss it into the writing? Also, what's with the UK version of NTSB badly done? Then there was a lot of rediculous medical stuff going on such as a boy hit unconscious by a car with the boy bleeding out and coming into the ER where there is only a doctor to greet them and one the first thing she does is order a central line?! By far the worst and dumbest part of the show: A woman being sucked out of a hole in the fuselage at 35,000, feet falling flat on her back in the ocean--and surviving!!! Come on, who came up with that!!? See more P D @Stiffpilchard Feb 11 Poorly, clunky, one-liners masquerading as dialogue and often poorly delivered by the cast. Complicated by the many different storylines, none of which is particularly gripping. Was it terrorism, was it the pilot, was it corporate espionage, how did AJ's father die - uh, who really cares. The acting is particularly wooden - or is it because the dialogue is so staid and unnaturally clunky? Hard to tell. Plummer performs well but the rest are pretty damned awful. The thing I really dislike is that I want to turn it off because it really is not very good but I want to see to the end. See more Alain E @AlainE Feb 7 It starts well and they have recruited Christopher Plummer in a minor role but the script cannot resist the tendency to complicate everything to the nth degree. I don’t know how well they researched the avionics information. As a cardiologist, I can say that the medical information is ridiculous. At the end of episode 3 some evil guy tries to kill the lone survivor, but instead injects the poison into her father when he apprehends him. Alarms go off because he had disconnected some monitors and the medical team rushes in the room. The father is unconscious on the floor. The brilliant doctor feels the patient’s carotid pulse for two seconds and declares that the he is in ventricular tachycardia and then shocks him. Any physician who does this will lose his license in milliseconds. Without an ECG you cannot tell what type of tachycardia the patient has and obviously shocking sinus tachycardia is inappropriate. Too bad because the technical aspects, especially photography, are superb. See more Read all reviews
